I can vouch for FaceTrackNoIR's awesomeness.

It's a great alternative to those who don't want to spend a bunch on TrackIR or want to try out the whole headtracking thing before purchasing hardware.

FaceTrackNoIR is freeware, requires only a webcam (PS3 Eye for best results), and a human(?) face.

Works great and smoothly once you dial your settings in.

I thought I might chip in here as well.
FaceTrackNoIR is fantastic. I love the fact I don't have to wear anything to make it work either. (Yes, it works when you're naked ;) )

As the above-mentioned post states, once you set it up correctly it's wonderfully smooth, and it just adds so much to the immersion factor.

And, it will only get better.

Track IR is second only to my joystick as a necessity for CloD.

It took me about 6 hours to get used to it and now it's completely second nature to me. Adding Track IR almost instantly doubled my situational awareness in game and at least doubled my skill as a pilot.

S!

Could not imagine flying without TrackIR or any kind of tracking device. It makes everything so much better.

Track IR for flight sims is like airbrush for model building...once you get used to it you start to wonder how you ever did without it!

The worst two weeks of my simming life were when I was waiting for my Track IR-4 to arrive after my Track IR-1 passed on.

I have had my track ir 4 pro for 8 years now it's been repaired (the leg) which broke during the 7.2 Mexicali earthquake. It's still going strong.

Won't fly Sims without it.

Immerse yourself in it, don't allow snap view keys and just commit to it.. in a week or less you will be completely sold on it. The amount of "edge" it gives you in MASSIVE for SA in a fight.

Has anyone tried it at length with Clod and does it give you a real edge? :-)

You can't judge the whole Track-Ir experience by FSX, it's a little clunky in that title because you can stick your head through the windshield or behind the seat, in Cliffs or Il-2 it works much better, so much so that I can no longer fly without it and if you adjust the curves for each axis to your comfort it will feel completely natural. I have watched some of the videos posted here and find myself turning my head to look out the windows, lol.
