Im sorry Tail, im just not getting why your so upset, were talking in a CLOD forum and im expressing my views and opinions just like everyone else can.

If you dont like what im saying then im sorry, but its a free world and this is a CLOD forum, i never tell anyone else to shut up, which is basically what your saying to me.

If anyone is being rude its you,

if you think I'm rude then it certainly answers the question of which one of us is 'sensitive'.

I'm not upset, I'm just trying to reason with some folks here, you are entitled to your oppinion etc......but we are entitled to ask for you to at least give us a break from your constant pushing of that oppinion, lets face it it stops being a 'discussion' if it's the same thing being repeated over and over, I haven't told you to 'shut up', I have politely asked for you to take the personal spats to PM, just a simple and polite request (initially not aimed at just you)

furbs 04-02-2012 12:54 PM

So what are we supposed to talk about in this thread?

Carguy wasn't getting his knickers in a twist, he asked me a question after my post and we had a bit of banter. No problem from him, then you come in and start telling people to stop talking about CLOD's future in the CLOD's future thread.

Why are you in here if you dont want to chat about the topic of the thread?

carguy_ 04-02-2012 01:19 PM

Yes is cool dawg. I asked furbs and I got exactly the answer from him I wanted to get. :D

Give me a chance....I only just registered here, but I can tell you I wouldn't be in the least surprised people are slightly put off discussing in this forum because they are concerned they will just end up in an argument.....go figure, but my registration date is not my date of birth, I've been lurking for ages, what you say about your little engagement with carguy is a speck on the bigger picture, there is obviously a stubborn difference of oppinions on both sides, I can't recall seeing anything here closely resembling a 'discussion' for a long time.

furbs 04-02-2012 01:31 PM

Nobody is arguing, apart from you. Have a read back in the thread, and check when the thread went OT.

Again were discussing the future of CLOD in the "future of CLOD thread"

thats the last im saying about it Tail.

-------------------------------------------------

Back on topic, Carguy, do you think they will ever add FSAA to CLOD?

I did read it and it went OT at post 2 which coincidentally was yours, I'm not arguing, I made an appeal to what I assumed were in reality reasonable people to perhaps tone down the point scoring style posts, I ended up in an exchange with you because you replied, like I said I have been reading these forums for ages and I will have to say you do seem to feature heavily in alot of the more heated discussions.

I thought COD already has AA (just not working well, expecting the patch to fix it) or is AA different to FSAA?

You might do well to take your own advice, I seem to recall you telling me I have no business entering a conversation uninvited, just because you can swan on in here with 'oh so beautifully crafted' sentences doesn't give you any absolution either.

Falstaff 04-02-2012 10:48 PM

The difference being I dont claim any.

JG52Uther 04-02-2012 11:10 PM

If you think you are going to turn every thread into a he said / she said argument you are wrong so better stop now...

Falstaff 04-02-2012 11:40 PM

'Every'? You mean two recently as far as I can recall, and I'm pretty much done in this one. I prefer to criticise the game than the posters, but sometimes it seems you have to get throughh one to get to the other.

And it depends on the provocation on offer.

You may prefer not to risk it and have one less pesky critic to deal with by a simple banning. Satisfaction all round.

*Edit* that reads a bit more petulantly than intended...I mean I dont intend to change my ways, and you may find it easier to ban me now than later. It saves me asking to be banned and it taking a while.

If you can be bothered, you might also wade through some of the preliminaries just to see where I was coming from. Okay, fair enough, not sure I could bothered either.

The baiters and high-horses *do* need sorting out. Not many seem willing to try.

Insuber 04-03-2012 12:05 AM

Despite his questionable and irritating overall attitude, I agree 100% with Falstaff about the vexation represented by our well known baiters.

And after BoM ............

What's the next theatre of operations going to be, something around the Mediterranean or developing Western Europe and adding more aircraft ?

I don't know what it's gonna be but here is what I would hope for. I'm pretty sure I'm alone on this one but I would like to see the Pacific Theater get an overhaul with updated eye candy. One of my favorite birds is the Corsair, would love to see that one with full cockpit and detail of the COD engine.

Flanker35M 04-03-2012 09:06 AM

North Africa and Mediterranean, the 2 least portraited theatres in any flight sim even they had a significant effect on outcome of the WW2.

Mediterranean was the most likely scenario, sharing most of the BoB planes. It would require just a handful of additional flyables (Mc.200, Cr.42, SM.79, 109 F for the blues, maybe a Tomahawk for the reds ...).

Cheers!

Chivas 04-03-2012 09:17 AM

I would imagine the Med would come after BOM, then maybe the Pacific. I think they will only do maps the size of BOB or smaller for awhile. I don't think we will see a European Bomber Campaign Map for sometime. The size of that map would scare anyone from building and populating it for sometime. They would have to start that map now and hope to have it done five years from now. Maybe thats why they hired the extra people, ;).

csThor 04-03-2012 09:22 AM

Given the fast an abrupt change of theaters I guess we'll see a few more releases about the Eastern Front. I mean with Stalingrad, Kursk, Bagration and a myriad of other smaller operations there's much stuff possible and somehow I think 1C is going to be more "attentive" to its home market. Not that I mind the Eastern Front ... I just think the MTO as a whole will not come anytime soon and neither will be the ETO.

I'd go with this.

I think they might make the MTO/ETO community efforts (if there is a community willing to work on the game by that stage...)

KG26_Alpha 04-03-2012 09:34 PM

The Mediterranean would be great as it was my choice when voting was done years ago for the IL2 series Med v Pacific, hence forth came Pacific Fighters from the voting & Luthiers project.

I hope we don't get stuck in the Eastern front for too long, if it goes that way, there's only so much Stalingrad Smolensk Porokhova Kursk etc etc I can take after 10+ years.

:)

Med FTW (yay)

=FI=Scott 04-04-2012 12:59 PM

From BoB it sounded logical to move towards the MTO but I would welcome anything that hasn't really been done before. The idea of another Eastern front sim does nothing for me. While I though that conflict was well done in IL2 I never thought they got to grips with the PTO (the closest it came was with the Slot map) so I would go for that.

I know there is a home audience to please and that there are simmers in the west who want to try the eastern front in the new sim but it just sounds like old wine in a new bottle.

carguy_ 04-04-2012 01:11 PM

All for MTO.

I would like to have the MTO, particulary because I`ve never experienced it. Two, three generic IL-2 coops years ago. But now when we have the foundation of Battle of Britain ops , it would be much easier than with the predecessor. Besides that, imagine the tank battles in the desert. I`d happily bring down some 40mm Hurris while flying a Fiat.

I quickly accpeted the IL2 way of develpment but I don`t think we should go to the same depths as we did before. Battle of Moscow is just one campaign, so we do have some hope that the MTO will come. I mean I`m not against fighting the reds once again. I know th theatre of operations, I know the tactics and I`d probably do pretty well right from the start. But the Mediterranean is everything I`d wish for. Bf109 in trop camouflage, crappy italian planes, endless desert and a sea over which I`d gladly perorm escort sorties. Imagine that. Taking off from Italy, landing near Tobruk. Yeah, I like it.

I understand though that 1C first needs to grab the Russian market with something.

Insuber 04-04-2012 01:34 PM

Yeah the North Africa and Med would be a dream. Uber Italian planes, crappy English planes, etc. etc. :-D.
Imagine taking off from Lybia with a flight of Mc.200's escorting SM.79's to bomb Tobruk's port ... and the poor Gladiators and Hurricanes in the middle ... :-D

IL2 Future Wishlist: North African Campaign

This was brought up in another thread and the more I think about it, the cooler it sounds, I personally have never played anything with the North African Campaign, specifically the air battles so lets just sit back and dream...

*note: this isnt meant to start any debates about the devs use of resources and future developments, they are working on what they are working on, this is just meant to dream of what could be in the future... or from the mod community after the SDK? Maps possible? Who knows... lets just dream...

So I'll start....

The aircraft...

5./JG27.Farber 04-04-2012 07:12 PM

Ive played Nord Afrika in a multiplayer campaign. It was the first real campaigns 5./JG27 played in. It had historical planesets and mission objectives. It had a really good balance and was very enjoyable.

5./JG27 Vs Chuffy's Flying Circus! It was the best campaign we have ever been in! CFC were a good fight and good Sports! :-P The old hands in the unit remember it as our hayday or honey moon period.

The first campaign was 17 missions long. We played some twice so it was more like 22 missions... From the Italian beginning in 1940 to German advance, British counter offensive, German counter counter offensive... All the way to the withdrawel in 1943. It was epic. The aircraft comming and going and being out classed and replaced.

Nord Afrika was awesome! - Except the flies and salt water.

Some time later CFC wrote a 4 or 6 missioner and that was fun also. So actually we have played two campaigns.

5./JG27 & 9./ZG26 have found memories of Nord Afrika. :-P
Actually this is where our sister squadron 9./ZG26 was born!

You can read all about it in our newspapers chronicling it here:

Remember the time the devs said they were going to release the SDK. It was the bottom of a long list , so I guess in 10 years time that will eventually come out and then you can make an African Campaign.

It wont take ten years.

Boston, Maryland and Baltimore for the allies as well.

Plus the dreaded Breda 65 for the axis....

ATAG_Doc 04-05-2012 02:39 PM

Ummmm North Africa :)

trumps 04-05-2012 03:17 PM

early on in North Africa there were Gladiators, Hurricanes including with the 40mm bofors under the wings, Bostons, Vickers Wellesleys some H-75's, plus Martlets on RN carriers. plus the Vichie French with their D520's, Moranes, and some of those dodgy french bomber types i think which fought against the Allied forces.
a very interesting plane set, more crap planes than you can poke a stick at ;)

BGs_Ricky 04-05-2012 04:49 PM

For the italians, some Breda BA.65 and Fiats Cr.32 were used in the ground attack role.

Sven 04-05-2012 06:24 PM

Oh yes, the North-African campaign as always interested me.
The main deal would be between the P40/Hurricane and the BF109F, the spitfire joined the show somewhat late.
The Lighting also was late to the show but played an important role while the Luftwaffe and Rommel's boys retreated to Italy.
the P-38 was a very good plane and flew faster then any German fighter of the time.
The main difficulty of the P39 is to master its CEM, the complete opposite of the FW190:grin:!

Krt_Bong 04-05-2012 09:20 PM

The OP's link shows a B-26 Marauder just below the 109's, I didn't know those were in the RAF at N. Africa. Even with that limited set of planes it would be interesting, but all the ones that I know were in theatre would be a huge undertaking in just aircraft alone. You could easily have 12 planes between German, Italian and Vichy French and almost as many for the Allies and a Huge Map would be necessary to be done right which the map we have in Il-2 1946 is not quite big enough even if it were accurate to do the entire operation which if I recall was on 3 fronts. I would like to see this as the next installment after Moskow.

Hence why most aren't making any reference to expecting a patch. ;)

I understand very well your point, but ... can we hope in a patch today? :-D

Verhängnis 04-06-2012 10:36 AM

Are you sure he wasn't in reference to that friday update, since it was not posted in this week?
Honestly though regardless of what he would of said I thought people would have asked anyway! So I think it is more than that. :)

FG28_Kodiak 04-06-2012 10:37 AM

Yes this was last week, now we have new hope

Ehr...30/3 was Friday last week, he was talking about last week. This week started 2/4. If he was talking about this week then certainly he would've said "The patch is still not ready, do not expect it next week." right? ;) If I'm not wrong here, a new week starts on a Monday lol! Anyway, I don't expect any patch today nor next Friday or the Friday after that, seriously who's expecting anything at this point?

taildraggernut 04-06-2012 10:40 AM

addman is right, the time for expecting is over, and it's easter anyway, the office is probably empty.

Hooves 04-06-2012 10:45 AM

yeah it being good Friday has me thinking there wont be any updates let alone the patch. But her eis to hoping against hope!:-)

No update = No news

Easy as that.

Doesn't mean we aren't interested in seeing some ground pounding action straight from the Russian Front!

Sorry. I'll so what I've done for 10 years and just keep my mouth shut. I usually only read posts and not get involved. There's always someone that takes it to an argument. Again, I'm sorry mate for posting. Back to silence.

For Western Christianity - yes, for Eastern - no. Next Friday will be "Good Friday" for Eastern Christianity. I doubt that lots of devs belong to Western Christianity, so it is very likely they are happily working now.

Sorry bud, not trying to cause an argument.
Maybe I should apologize for even responding to your post in the first place.

...maybe.

lol, no it was my fault. I got my wires crossed anyway. I was reading the Friday update thread and saw Blacksix had created a post on 30 Mar 12 stating not to expect anything 'this week', which would have meant last week. I saw a couple of blokes posting about expecting a patch and thought I was helping them not to get too excitted. My fault. As I said, I'll get back into my box and just stick to reading posts. Cheers mate.

DroopSnoot 04-06-2012 11:38 AM

The truth is if it took nearly 7 years to make what we have now, then re-writting the graphics engine to be completely new but look the same, is gonna take a heck of a lot longer than the present time frame.
I think the development announcements we recevie are probably displaying unrealistic progress reports in an effort to ease the tension and appease the community.

I wouldnt expect anything in terms of functional patch or even beta till the summer or maybe later, thats just being realistic not negative.

Ataros 04-06-2012 11:44 AM

Not today. Only status update.

steeldelete 04-06-2012 11:47 AM

I think devs presume we know its Easter...

Russians are really big on Easter...maybe we get an easter bunny this week, but probably no update and certainly no patch.
