Thanks Hicks-81 those are some nice pics. Where was the air show? Here were I'm at(S.L.O. Ca.) we get the B17,B24, and maybe 3 or 4 other american fighters. No fly by just look and see. For me I would have to travel 2hrs to see a real air show. And non of my friends are into aviation. Note to self find new friends who are into aviation. Again thanks for sharing

Very good shots Hicks! :-)

Hicks-81 09-05-2011 12:03 PM

Thanks mates ;)

U2RATTLEHUM, It was in Madrid, Spain. In Cuatro Vientos airfield. Every first Sunday of every month (except January and August) there is exhibition. Far from California I'm afraid

Fundación Infante de Orleans has more than 30 aircraft, although the public is more attracted to the I-16 Mosca (with the colors of the Spanish Republican ace Jose Maria Bravo, 12 Kills, 11 probable).

In Spain is difficult to find aircraft of World War II (or Spanish Civil War) and less airworthy, although the Spanish Air Force Museum has a good number of war planes.

Thanks Mataliebres. I'm practicing with the camera for photographing planes in flight for when you leave at Duxford the next year (I hope). Possibly back to Cuatro Vientos in November.

For those of you who love Concorde and let's face it who doesn't, here's the one at Manchester being brought back to life......well until our good old British bollocks gets in the way of things.
http://heritageconcorde.com/?page_id=10055

I only post this as the Vulcan we have at Carlisle is 50 years old this year, has stood outside since she flew in in 1983 following the Falklands. A pensioner compared to Concorde with systems deterioration to match! However we have had the 28 volt systems on our Vulcan live this year but discovered a faulty switch in the cockpit so we have to get around to replace it. Simple, well no, the switch is mounted in a box secured by about 16 rusty screws which will have to be drilled out individually if we can gain access with a drill between the box and the aircraft fuselage side!

That's the one mate! It was part of a whole raft of BoB and WWII aviation
documentaries that the Beeb made for last years 70th BoB anniversary. I enjoyed the bit about learning as they went- nah never flown one but I'm happy to give it a go!!!

bobbysocks 09-19-2011 05:16 PM

they had basically the same thing over here. these ladies would ferry ac from factories to bases or where ever they were needed. many of the ac were completely unknown to them...single engine and multi engine. they were given a manual and directions of where to go. they got them where they were supposed to in one piece. truely amazing ladies!

McQ59 09-19-2011 08:41 PM

Sorry guys, that was just a clip, but you'll easily find the rest of it on youtube. About 45 min. good documentary all in all. It's got a cool dude in there with a few good comments. It was back in the days when a pilot should be a white mail you know. When two female pilots dogfight it's quite tempting to call it a... Yeah, right :)

WOP Airshow Video by Glodark 7

Hi all,

Time for some positive news from airshows. Glodark 7 has produced a new video using Wings of Prey and custom made skins.

Enjoy!

MAC

Copied from the Gaijin forum:

The Wings of Prey
Airshow 2011
(a virtual airshow)

I had the idea for this a while ago after the introduction of the flyby camera. I've been to a few airshows in recent years and thought it would be fun to try and create a virtual airshow using some of the warbirds from Wings of Prey.

I've used a few filters and motion to try to give the video that hand-held-camera, spectator type of feel to it and used some actual airshow audio in parts to add to the illusion.

Please forgive my meagre display of aerobatics. You'll see more rolls than in a bakery!

Check out the P-51's screaming whine as it zooms past the camera! It displays the paintscheme of 'Big Beautiful Doll', sadly lost at Duxford this year. You'll also notice that this aircraft is predominant in the video. It gave me the best angles and the reflections on that chrome surface are very nice!

Special thanks to Fenris and MadMass for the skins.

Crank up the volume!

i found this while actually looking for something else. its an OLD rc system put out by tyco in the us. its called the Tyco SkyForce ( or sky force ). as you can see from the pic it is a very small system for light weight gliders. i have found several on Ebay ( usa ) for between $25 -$35 dollars. you could make ( like the guy in the picture ) any ac you wish and attach the system.... just thought it was pretty cool. i gotta get me one of these!

THEY even make these in the KLINGON Bird of Prey

Bobby!!

Wow!!

Just looked like any other clip at first and was quite interesting!! Thought it was impressive.

And then.....

Those 4 Mustangs in the distance turning up...

Mad the the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. What a sight to see, just something about it that was incredible.

The way they crew said "look out for a friendly flight of mustangs somewhere" (or to that effect) and then the 4 of them in formation came screaming round.

Superb. Worth it just for that :)

Thanks for sharing.

Hi gents. Just wanted to post a little something I found a boring day at the office. It's a nice little story of two aircrews from a Blacburn Skua and a He-111 that lived throug forced landings in the norwegian mountains - and subsequently a cpl of days in a pretty cold environment. It was in late april 1940, before the norwegian forces gave up the struggle against the germans.
The Skua has later (in 1973) been raised from the mountainlake it sunk in. The remnants of the He-111 still lies were it landed.

http://home.online.no/~oela/

This spring a movie about the meeting between the to aircrews will be released. I really hope it will be good... Here's the first trailer

Nice one Davedog......................................

This 486 Sqn RNZAF Tempest was used in the film by the Air Ministery for air recognition for the original perpose of getting AA unit on airfield and coastal defence units not to shoot it down !!. These 486Sqn Tempest's were later fitted with uprated Rotol airscrews when the max engine rpm was inceased to 3850 rev's and 13lb boost ..... the original De Havilland screws has a habit of shredding the prop blades !!!. This was done to allow the Tempest V to overhaul the V1 flying bomb at 400mph+, something 486 Sqn did well at shooting down nearly 240 of them.

Once nice thought........I wonder what B.o.S used to replicate the sound ?.... I hope its close to the original as it gives me goose pimples ! :)

Mind you...If EJ693 being restored by Kermit Weeks ever gets airborne.....I for one will be on plane to sunny Florida .... Sod Disney......Im there for that sweet sound !!

Phillip

Sorry Dave now I'm mad as hell. Though Phillip(Amercan Tabby)is not the problem here. I had one growing up when my family moved to Amirica. It's the yellow tabby, not quite sure the type. Anyways my sister had two, Ben and Jerry and yes named after the ice cream company anyways I lived with her in mid 90's The cats would some how get in my room and leave a mess for me to clean up could never really get the smell out of the carpet. They were bad cats. Can never have Ben and jerry's again(Cherry Garcia)yummy now I have to go to therapy thanks. LOL we need not always be so serious, life is too short.

Virtual flying legends 2012 (fsx)

Virtual Flying Legends 2012 - Part 1: Spitfires & Hawks

Inspired by the awesome scenery designed by Stephen Legg & John Young of the Airfield Construction Group, 'Buzzard' & The 'Baron' attempt to recreate a virtual representation of Duxfords annual Flying Legends airshow using Microsofts Flight Simulator X. Using all the top payware warbird addons aswell as a few excellent freeware additions, this was a highly enjoyable project. Part 1 features a pair of Spitfires from realair simulations & an attempt to recreate some 'tail chasing' & pair of Curtiss Hawks, including the fighter collections own P-40B Warhawk from shockwave productions & a Curtiss Hawk 75 C-1 from vertigo studios. We hope you get as much enjoyment watching these as we had making them.

found something that may be of great interest to some of you. a site that has access to old abandoned games....those great games from top of the line companies from yesteryear that no one supports anymore. its worth kicking around this site and seeing what all they have....might find an old fav and have a blast.....happy hunting. oh and 1 thing...it isnt exactly free anymore. $5.95 usd gives you unlimited downloads for the day and like 8.95 gives it to you for an entire month....still worth it i think.
