Process of elimination...
Its gear is down and seems to imply that the plane either made a succesful crash landing OR it was stationary and was hit by a bomb or ground fire etc. The landing gear also comes "out" rather than "in" which narrows it down further.... at a second glace i also struggle to notice any gun ports on the wing..... hmmm |
Quote:
|
oh and "Aircraft of the Worlds Airforces" list by country/operator
|
no guns in the wings . only a hole for the landing lights.
still there. maybe japanese? |
the japanese fighter - oscar?
|
also the wreck is so bad that i am not 100% sure its what the website i got it off says it is but il trust them
|

the spitfires wheels when lowered come in towards the feselage, the hurricanes go out towards the wing... thats what i meant. Was trying to make it simple lol. Sorry. I still think i could be the "oscar" in the pic. |
Quote:
since the evidence says it is not what i was told by the website il give u it but it said it was a zero |
could of been a plane with fixed gear, but then again i see a slot in the wing for the landing gear to retract into.... could just be part of the damage though!
|
in all fairness to your website it could be a zero fighter :D just because we cant see the ports on the wings for the guns it doesnt mean they are not their lol. Its a wreck, its in a bad way :P

didnt think it would be
what are we looking at, is that a tail unit and elevators or a wing and engine? |
Quote:

looks like wwII in europe .
A20? |
westland Lysander?
|
I think its a fighter anyway. Tail section, europe, lack of a tail hook could imply that its land based....
hmm |

http://atlantium.blogspot.com/2007/0...pisode-xi.html Gold model airplanes were found in the 1950's and have been classified as Mayan Idols or children's toys. These models are very accurate representations of advanced jet aircraft. Modern model builders copied the objects to make a full scale radio controlled model and the scale model flew with great stability. |
Righty ho here one

An easy one to relight the thread. edit: (haha or not eh Vulcan, same minute) Looks like a Hawker Fury?
http://i48.tinypic.com/k19ych.jpg |
Quote:
Buccaneer? dont really know just looks like its on a carrier. Edit:yeah odds on that!, Nah not a Fury that was single seat and had fairing (think thats the word) on the undercarrage. |
Pope, i'd have to have a guess here and say - sea vixen

Ah ok, just seen pic.
Definately looks likes a hawker aircraft. Possibly a hawker nimrod, hart, osprey? scrap the nimrod, that was only single seat. |
hawker yes
osprey no |

just dug up a picture of a fury by the way, No wonder I thought it was a fury, its vertualy identicle to a Mk1 fury just with two seats not one.
|
yeah lol i had to check myself when you said fury so i had a picture of a fury and what it is next side by side to see if there was any difference
|
ok. Is it an Audax? Even cheating and looking at pictures makes me not sure. Almost all the planes Hawker developed in the 30's seem to look the same, just scaled up or down.
Foz was of course correct, it was a sea vixen on fire. |
nah sorry not that either.
|
Quote:
Edit: Ahhh no wonder they all look the same. Audax, Demon, Hardy, Hind, Osprey, Hartbees, Fury and Hector are all just different versions of the Hawker Hart. |
"Har" is good "dy" not so
|
Quote:
I'm glad that by saying Fury straight away without cheating, I was in a way correct from the start. |
your kidding me!
Yeah Hawker Hart, sorry to put you through that i should have researched it a bit. |
No problem. It was kinda fun playing spot the difference lol.
|
Hah, good sport eh? look forward to yours now!
|
|
Japanise what ever it is.
Ki-21? |
Failing that Ki-67
there ends my knowledge on japainse non fighter aircraft. (only fighter i know is a Zero) |
