Can no longer launch the game with this patch extracted into the folders.
i7 2.6
Asus gene II rampage extreme mobo
6 gig ddr3 corsair ram
nvidia GTX 480
also, steam version.
Note that I could not launch the game untill the last patch uploaded on to steam, as well.

The patch download directly from 1C gave me a truncated (corrupt/incomplete) archive file. I therefore downloaded the file from one of the mirrors. After that, patch installation (copy/paste the stuff into the correct places) was straightforward...

Patch download

Downloaded the patch straight from 1C link and after 189Mb was told incomplete download. DL the torrent 199Mb and it works fine. big improvement on the game paly and frame rate, so worth the problems with downloading.

Yup, just noticed this in a mission I made in FMB. Most irritating, but hopefully an easy fix.

If you don't use TrackIR or free-track, may be you must try to set TrackIR option in conf.ini to 0.

Thanks, will give that a go!

Last info was yes it would be out today.
I think somthing called 'patience' is also required for it to install

Wolf_Rider 04-18-2011 02:17 PM

the story is, the Steam release will be out on Monday if all goes well with the Beta patch which was released on Friday last

LcSummers 04-18-2011 02:29 PM

There were a lot of guys who thought that the beta patch was to be delayed.

Its only called patience. Be patient, luthier is knowing well what he is doing. ;)

That is more pain than patience. The north sea is bad enough.

raaaid 04-18-2011 03:11 PM

admired developers im running the game on sea at 640*480 full screen with 30-40 fps smoothly on sea with a dual core at 2.4 ghz 3 gb of ram and an nvidia 8500gt

ive noticed that the stutter on land is caused by the buildings

theres an option to have many buildings or few

i would like to have an option to turn them all off

on this way me and many with low end rigs could fly anywhere smoothly

on this way a 400 bugs rig adequatly treated could outperform online a 3000 bugs rig, remember its the pilot not the machine :)

I'm running a 10 Gerbil rig Overclocked to a 11 Gerbil rig (I slipped some crystal meth in with the sesame and sunflower seed mix), but I can seem to get above 15 fps over London... Should I drop my resolution to 70*40?

Maybe I should upgrade to bugs, but then which ones? Roaches, ants, or fleas? I'm a little concerned about the hygienic consequences and I'm not sure my wife will accept them either...

;) :-P

raaaid 04-18-2011 03:29 PM

il you have the option to turn buildings off my evil plan is take the 3000 rigs to london and have low dogfights with them myself at 50 constant fps with my crappy rig and my foes and they thousand rigs at 20 jumpy fps

well at least they will see a nice big ben as they fall in flames:evil:

But but but, my ti-84+ calculator should be able to run clod, it even has 24k of RAM and a 15mhz processor!

raaaid 04-18-2011 04:14 PM

i just fell is not right to upgrade your pc every year

my gpu is 3 years old and costed me 100 euro

if i have to upgrade ill upgrade but i would prefer much more to be able to turn buildings off

obviously the game industry is in collusion with the hardware industry

this is just not right being 1c independent they may people let play on old hardware just by giving the option of 640*480 resolution and turning buildings off

i just ask nicely for it cause i know the team listen to folks, the may evn listen too much

bongodriver 04-18-2011 04:18 PM

So because you can't afford decent hardware, anyone else....no everyone else should be dragged down to your level just to make thing fair?

is there any particular reason you don't want to stick with games your hardware can handle until you are able to join us in this century.

I really do hope you find the answer to your dilema, I really hope you will get enjoyment from your venture, but do you really feel surprised that this software is not designed to cater for your hardware?

For C G:

jt_medina 04-18-2011 04:28 PM

For €160 you can find a very decent GPU. I have a ATI 5770 and it cost me just that money. I can run COD almost maxed out 1080 AAx2, except buildings med/low and shaders medium.

My advice, wait 6 more months until the game is patched and see what the real hardware requirements are. On the CPU side I have an "old" quad core 2 2.50 and I don't see any problem in performance. It cost €130 so I guess for same money you can get a very decent i5 those days.

GOA_Potenz 04-18-2011 04:35 PM

I f gaming industry keep developing software to be run in old rigs, we will never have evolution on technologys, new softwares are developed to be run with new techs

raaaid 04-18-2011 04:35 PM

New to this forum...
I have just played COD at MAXIMUM settings (SSAO was of)
and got about 16 fps, without stutters.

Before the Monday patch i had the last beta installed.
With the last beta my fps was about 30 with medium settings.

Asus M4A78
AMD Phenom II X4 at 3 GHZ
3.xx of RAM
Radeon HD 4670
Windows 7

THIS UPGRADE IS GREAT!

Keep up the good work.

tallon 04-18-2011 05:58 PM

Glad the new patch seems to be curing issues for somebody - I've just patched it and now it wont launch at all!

All I get it 'Launcher has stopped working' - anyone else getting this? Is it a Steam issue?

YellowTwo 04-18-2011 06:07 PM

I've not had that problem but my game was corrupted after the download. I went into Steam and in properties got it to validate the game files and it found five files that needed replacing. After that all was ok and the new patch has really boosted performance with the same settings I had before.

Hope this helps.

Insuber 04-18-2011 06:07 PM

Just fired up the PC, Steam has updated CoD to 1.00.14101. Game seems more fluid, no stutters (Bomber intercept on sea).

Cheers,
Insuber

LcSummers 04-18-2011 06:16 PM

Tried free flight over France Me109 and it stutterd alot. Before patch it was flyable with my settings now not. Trying a restart lets see.

Dano 04-18-2011 06:29 PM

Patch removed 'disable desktop composition' checkbox from launcher.exe for me, had to re-enable to remove stutters again.

ivo 04-18-2011 06:30 PM

Bye Ivo, however for my this patch is very good.

Thanks Luthier and team!

41Sqn_Stormcrow 04-18-2011 06:42 PM

Thank you very much for the patch. It improved considerably the performance and also some bugging bugs were removed. And NO stutterings any more. Great great work!!!

Unfortunately also a good deal of immersion gone with the wind:

No Merlin coughs any more when pushing. Please bring it back (I am a Spit driver usually so no blue whining here). Now it is arcade IL2 cut outs like in old Hurricane of old IL2.
The needles are too steady and feel arcadish. Please bring bouncing needles back - even toned down if necessary.
No g-load impact on head position: I seem to be no longer pushed into the seat. The revi stays where it is.
Where have the immersive cockpit vibrations gone?

PLEASE PLEASE DON'T tone this great sim down to make it an arcade game. There are too many arcade flying games out there but let us simmers have a good sim.

Not for me.

Much better performance than beta from friday!

Furthermore it is hard to say, whats the reason, because i don´t see your system specs.

the last official patch with nossao and lowtex mods gave me double the framerate of what it is now with steampatch101. Sadly, nossao mod and lowtex mods doesn't seem to work anymore. What have you done? :-?

Thanks SoldaatvanOranje old chap - I trawled the posts and JimBob had the same issue with his install. Performed the integrity check and it found an error and reinstalled a file.

Thanks for posting back. If it's a common issue it may be worth stickying a simple message....

Rattlehead 04-18-2011 07:35 PM

I'm running a dual core processor, so take my comments with that in mind. (I know the patch works better with quad cores.)

I left SSAO off, but left textures at 'original' setting. Otherwise, settings were unchanged. (A combination of high and medium settings.)

Performance over general terrian is as good or better than with the mod installed, but once I fly over industrial areas, the frames drop from 35+ to about 8. Yikes! :(

Performance over London is worse too I'm afraid, at least in my case.

Regarding the rendering of buildings - I always hated the pop-up of the buildings before, and I much prefer the fact that buildings no longer do so. The 'lego' look I can tolerate, even if at low altitudes it looks quite ugly.
Higher up though, one doesn't notice the lack of visual aesthetics too much.

I'll test some more and see how things go. My biggest concern at this point is the jarring drop in framerates in industrial areas.

Sadly I think the time is finally up for my poor old dual core. But I've had 4 years of good service out of it so I can't complain.

BadgerSmedly 04-18-2011 07:36 PM

Oh and with low settings on buildings and trees at 8XAA and everything else high and getting average of 40FPS. Nice!

No Bf110 engine sounds though and the 109's sounds are intermittent.... :(

Thanks for the patch!

Badger

TUCKIE_JG52 04-18-2011 07:40 PM

Trees and ground textures to medium, gunners on, all the rest to the maximum...

London at 17 constant fps while recording with fraps, no stutters.

Black Death track with fixed views at 20-25 fps.

I7 920 overclocked to 3,33Ghz

Thanks guys at 1C... that's the way to optimise!

But... will vote for the mechanical tachometers back! Keep it real!

senseispcc 04-18-2011 08:40 PM

Wonderful...

May I say so? I shall dare, in a little over three weeks this game did reach a fantastic new level of immersion in the reality of "air warfare". I am happy, yes, there are still some little details to get to the perfection, it is like IL2 the original, is all happening again. I love it, we waited a long time but it was worth it.:):-P:o;)
This last patch did for my PC turn a stuttering game into a simulation. I hope that the last "bugs" shall with our help be ironed out quiet quickly.

SDT_longshot 04-18-2011 09:15 PM

patch

well i have to say after this new patch flying over buildings is better but not perfect still needs improvement

also i found out that since the patch i can not do the single mission of sight seeing london when i put the mission on it loads then goes to a launcher faild to load error message

also multiplayer still fails to conntect i managed to get on a map of the english channel but wasnt able to play it due to no options allowing me to go into the game

we also need manuals to planes the game is so realistic learning to fly the plane with full realisum on is a big challenge a document per plane here would help a hell of alot

graphics look amazing fantastic sim
thx to oleg and team who have put so much hard work into the sim
i really apreshiate it S!

smink1701 04-18-2011 10:03 PM

I have had much time to play and it’s better but not great. Graphics are wonderful to behold but…

-Getting micro stutters on a regular basis

-Shadows around scenery vibrates

-Many, many features don’t work, i.e. trim wheels won’t turn inside many aircraft

-Loosen straps motion seems buggy

-Exterior sounds are poor…are they placeholders?

-Interior sounds are boring; everything is a click…no undercarriage sound, no wind when cockpit opens during flight, etc.

-Make controls similar to IL2 and many problems will be solved.

41Sqn_Stormcrow 04-18-2011 11:03 PM

I no longer can start the Hurricane in the career mode.

The boost and mixture always jump to back position whatever joystick input I give. Particularly it seems that I cannot set mixture independently from boost. I only can increase mixture (lever put forward) when I push throttle to max forward position. My guess is that this is not meant to be.

dflion 04-19-2011 02:36 AM

Steam worked at last?

I have just successfully downloaded patch ver.1.00.14101.

First impressions, a vast improvement in ground graphics flying high, with some intermittent stuttering down low when near towns with buildings. All graphics are on medium settings including grass, shadows and roads. I have SSAO on.

Will now check framerates and different graphic combinations, take some sceen dumps etc.

Thanks for all your hard work 'Ilya and team'. A reminder to a lot of members still having problems. When Il-2 Sturmovik first came out, there were many similar problems that we are experiencing now. Many of us had to upgrade our computers to get them working at acceptable frame rates without turning all the graphics down. I know that Ilya and team have tryed to cater for low-end computers in COD, but the fact is that we will need more powerful computers as time goes on and eventual upgrading will be required.

Just recognized (for me) disabling SSAO brings more fps than with SSAO ON.

So it seems now its working much better but i have to test it more. Dev team is going definitley the right way.:-P

for nvidia users: a new official driver (270.61 whql) is downloadable since yesterday.
Using this driver I've got much fps over London but I must say the beta patch from last week was better for me.
i5 2500k 4ghz, 4 gb ram, gtx560ti, win7 x64

I checked two missions: London sightseeing and free flight over France
with the last beta patch both mission was playable (min18-20fps)
with the newest official patch its a bit worse: over France and London I got less fps' than before

Nice work with the patch

Nice work with the patch
I few things that I notice like:
MY keyboard and Joystick profiles have been reset to default! Not to worry only an hour and a half to remap all of that.
The MG's on the Hurry now seem to be fitted with suppressers ( must be a stealth Hurricane? As the weapons make no sound at all! lucky the tracer is working now!.
The FPS have jump up massively, lucky they fixed that with the Beta patch and then Un-fixed it with this one!
The Co-Op is still uncooperative and works as long as you don't want to play with another human!
The AI are so clever the steal your aircraft if you so much as go to outside views!
The lobby does nothing as far as I can see, It can't even find steam friends that have created a game in the lobby!
Now I have the added bonus of my graphics icons for the Throttle, fuel mix and radiator icons are gone and replaced with just the Throttle!
Steam Friends on the steam interface works well if you want to join in their game, of course it doesn't in am being ironic! all it says is unable to contact server! If it cant contact the server how come I can join with direct connect with their IP address?
FFS, it would be a truly awesome game if only it worked properly. This should not have been released yet its half finished, they should have charged us only half the price and called us beta testers!

Hello,

Please do simple thing, save the key and joystick profile before exiting the game, give it a good name (your_keys is a good choise), then you can each time reload it.;)

Just shot up my first plane. Would have downed him but got a lengthy freeze just as I had him. Found him just as he landed with severe damage. The screen freeze might have been the 255 ping though. Other than that it worked like a dream. Need more Aussie servers so the ping ain't so high. Awesome to be back on the multiplayer though. It was full real and no problems at all.

I've just bought and done a fresh install from Steam earlier today, but launcher.exe is crashing immediately:

Yes thats right but now i unchecked it and it runs like the beta patch wich was released on April 15th.

raaaid 04-19-2011 03:32 PM

ive just had a dogfight two vs two over the sea with everything at minimum except special effects at maximum at 800*600

right on spot:

frames didnt go under twenty nor over 22, just like a movie :)

the problem is stutter on land caused by the buildings

if you have an option to remove all trees i dont see why cant you turn all buildings off

i did a litle experiment:

delete the sfs bob_buildings and substitute it by an empty sfs with the same name

now buildins appear as black pixels but even then have stuuters :(

seems the pc is doing overcalculation on when the buildings should pop up in view

Not sure I follow that. The Monday Steam patch is the same as the Friday beta patch except for any tweaks they may have made over the weekend.

Did you say it now works better with SSAO checked or unchecked?

I have the impression that head shake was dumped down too with this patch. I can pull the tightest turns in a Spit at high speed and will eventually black out but I won't be pushed into the seat the slightest bit.

If I push happily there is still some head movement but unfortunately by positive g manoeuvres there's no effect any more. Please bring back correct g-effects on body. If the dev team felt that it was overdone ok (the spine is not elastic), but now it is zero. A little bit of being pushed into the seat is realistic though as even normal gravity takes care that one measures up to 2cm more in the morning than in the evening.

i had launcher crashes, i fixed it with the regedit fix, nvidia cards:rolleyes:

man whats people about

im playing with my low end pc and really enjoying destroying engines by putting them to the limit

for me its a matter of playing over sea and if i want i can get 80 fps by 400*300 resolution

of course i cant play over land so i just play over the sea by now

when they fix the buildings problems my rig will suffice and instead of spending two hundred on gpu ill spend 75 on collectors edition, i want that map badly

Redmarkus4 04-19-2011 07:09 PM

Updated via Steam. Game now freezes once I go into flight mode - just blue sky and clouds, plus engine noise but no movement and no cockpit. Exterior views do not work.

static sounds?

I am having a problem where my sounds are working, then get staticy, the cut out completely, then get staticy, then come back, ect..

It sounds like theres a loose wire or something from my computer to my surround sound system but it isn't. All other computer sounds still work and I can even go into audio menu and test surround sound. Everything works so I click back into game and no sound??? then staticy engine, ect...?

never had this happen ever. Anyone have the same issue?

It happened once before this patch.

Again, checked all wires. If it was a wire I wouldnt be hearing text sounds through my surround.

Patch observations

AI flys eratic when pursued and shot much like old iL2 , Before they flew straight line and banked/climbed or dove.

Multiplayer map to access planes, just cannot get the labels to stick so I can enter a plane, it is hit n miss til I get lucky

I turned everything in the game on of high, looks great, some stuttering but I wanted to see it.

I started a lobby, not sure anyone can see it and I saw no other lobbies

I see the line in the sky east of London I think, very starnge indeed

I see lines coming off the coast in the water occaisionally but they go away depending on angle.

I shot up the fuel tanks around London, very nice explosions and fire, huge column of smoke, impressive until I saw the fireball turn into big ball off blinding light like the sun. It would come in and out depending on view.

Enemy AI are very difficult to kill, unrealistically so Same for human pilots, I have not been shot down yet.

I have seen water tiles speckled on mountains in the MP df missions, but those are junk anyway, whats up with the Donut and Square islands? When you enter those missions you might as wait until they are airborn, if not 90% of the time you get into a plane that crashes immediately. Shouldn't we get to start the engine?

There is still strange behavior when a plane crash lands, like there is no explosion and it behaves strangely moving across the ground, planes move across the ground even when engine is off.

BTW I have never had a game crash or hang yet....

It appears we have miles to go before we sleep. The excitement wanes.... Back to IL2 46 UP mods and A10-C for now.

I have the same problems plus launcher crashes since the second beta patch and now with the new patch.

I deleted the beta and it was better but now...

I have try to solve the problem with drivercleaner, with loading newest drivers again, unchecked Steamcloud, let steam check the game cashe and so on, nothing works. I must say i´m the first time a little bit angry about a patch wich makes my game worse and wich i can´t delete.

Great that is working for you too

The Patch did a great job now running more smoothly but it seems like the new Nvidia 270.61 driver has improve performance also. I must admit that seeing the Dev team working so hard to get things right that the performance issues will be over soon. Almost of today games are not flawless but today mentality is to get things now but things do take times.

Jones11C 04-20-2011 11:20 PM

Patch is excellent. This is not an improvement, this is what this game is supposed to be. Love 1C and Oleg. I fly attack aircraft, and love the IL2 series. With this patch fixing the FPS issue, the realism can now appropriately be addressed. Thus far, the 1C team has done it again. COD is awesome. Thanks for the hard work on fixing the bugs. Now its like it never happened!!

Neil Lowe 04-21-2011 01:33 AM

Hi,

I bought the game through steam on Tuesday.

Checked that it is the latest version.

These are the issues I'm having:

1. Recorded tracks eg: campaign, play for about one minute then freeze for ten seconds play another frame freeze again for ten seconds again then eventually grinds to a halt requiring me to press escape. Result = I can't watch any recorded tracks :(

2. Cloud textures seem to be clipping (cut off) in the distance.

3. Voice levels are too quiet, even when volume in audio setup (ingame) are adjusted to max.

=================================================

Personally the game runs very well on my system. High settings seem to run the best. Minimal stutters with Max settings and frame rates are too low over land at times

I'd like FFB similar to IL2 -1946 to be implemented instead of just the centering spring FFB that it has now.

Possibility to turn off Scenery ground shadows only, leaving the rest of the plane shadows (including plane shadow on the ground) intact.

My system:

i7 960 3.2Gb
Sabertooth X-58 Motherboard
GTX 470 1280Mb
OCZ 12Gb 1600Mhz RAM
Win 7 64bit Professional

Thank-you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing this sim evolve to the great product you have envisaged.

Cheers, Neil :)

hey devs im loving the game but not everybody can afford to upgrade evry 1 or 2 years

it would be nice you allowed buildings off(then im pretty sure my system will run perfectly the game) in a future patch so i can beat some preps online :)

8500 is about 5 years old if not older, and it was the entry level 8 series... You definetly should look at getting an entry level 400 or 500 series, you would be looking at about $100 maybe a little more and you would notice a huge difference

scorpac 04-21-2011 07:00 PM

500 !!!

edit: crap :( someone was faster

Karppa 04-22-2011 10:44 AM

Last patch is great improvement! FPS is better and stutter a lot less even with high settings.

Turning off useless stuff like moving grass straws makes things also better on ground level.

Still get launcher crashes sometimes. :(

Hopefully we'll get proper multiscreen support with easy FOV adjustments sometime in future too which doesn't mess up and distort graphics like now with gigantic low res arrows etc...

Was playing the game tonight on the Syndicate server and performance was pretty good on the British side of the map but as soon as you get near the French side near the cities or industrial areas it lags terribly. I hope this gets fixed on the next patch because its very hard to fight on the French side of the map atm.
