Yes, I know but he was the community communication manager before and still had another job building missions. I just wondered what part he would play in BoS. Just curious, nothing more.

Sounds to me like you are INCREDIBLY BITTER. All that work you did just down the drain huh? such is life. You get another year of COD then your player base goes bye bye. Might as well move on at that point to don't you think?

Hooves all you do is complain. I think bitterness is your middle name. I have never received so many complaints from TS all directed at you. All I did was answer the question. Please take a deep breath before you post anymore.

It really would be a nice "good bye" present if they released the source code to Daidalos or a similar community team with some disclaimers that they can not use it for commercial products without paying royalties or similar...

Yeah! Putting up the source code doesn't cost anything anymore! Just for a peek inside, what may be repairable!

but...

You're very, VERY wrong here...

The last thing 1C-777 needs in this niche is competiton, there's just no space for it.

So, bring flowers to the burial of the CloD engine, say a few words and get over it.

PS: I don't like the the current development either, i just have to reckon it as a fact(which most likely will drive me off, but hey...)

From Official Jason Williams FAQ:

Quote:

Q. Will BOS be based on the Digital Nature engine (777 Studios Technology)?

A. Yes, the Digital Nature engine and associated technologies will be the basis for BOS, but of course work will be done to make it ready for WWII aircraft and other changes to the code will no doubt occur over time. The engine is an ever evolving piece of software.

Q. Why was the Digital Nature engine chosen instead of the CLOD engine?

A. The Digital Nature engine is an advanced game engine that has been developed over several years and powers ROF with great results. Besides being relatively bug free and well-functioning, it has advanced physics, realistic flight-modeling, progressive damage modeling, complex ballistics, detailed environmental modeling, detailed terrain modeling and superb graphics rendering. Above all else it is more modular and flexible than the CLOD engine. It can even support different types of player vehicles from main battle tanks to giant robots. Using the Digital Nature engine will provide users with a well-functioning product at launch that can be brought to market fairly quickly. It can still be further enhanced in the future as needed.

Q. Will BOS include every imaginable feature and detail the community will want?

A. Unfortunately, no simulation title can have everything the community will want. There is a relatively short window to create and launch BOS. As 777 Studios learned from developing ROF, it is better to start with digestible chunks of features and content that works and add more over time. We also do not want to keep the community waiting for years while we make a large product that may not work as advertised. We prefer to take it one step at a time.

Q. Will content from CLOD be imported and be used in BOS?

A. If any is used, than all previously created content by 1C Company will be used in the future projects with maximum possibilities.

Q. Will BOS install over CLOD as promised by previous management?

A. Sorry it will not, BOS will be based on a completely different engine and be a completely different product line.
I am sure we will get a stable usable product from 777 Studios. There are many elements of RoF which CoD did not have, for example graphical reflections, cloud systems which are much more detailed, and which don't show the pop up effect of CoD's clouds. However, the engine will lack a number of the elements which were part of CoD. And the complexity of the engine modelling and damage modelling is quite a bit less.

There is no particular utility in criticizing 777 Studios for what they are doing. They provide a product which many people enjoy, myself included. Rather than engaging in a lot of blame assigning and finger pointing, the community would be better off to unite and request to be given as much access to CoD's programming as possible. As I suggested before, this is a win/win for both 1C and the community. If CoD improves, 1C will benefit from sales, and the community will enjoy the game.

I would agree with the OP, let the community have access to the tools, whatever stage they were in, and let us see what we can do. Already people have been able to add features like in game refueling, simply by experimenting.
