I did this yesturday. And he was slightly to the side of him, which probably made that happen.

Why didn't the crew bail out?

Ok, i'm stumped...probably didn't know pilot dies, or high g-force, or a mistake in the demo.

I think its because the pilot has control of all the ejector seats. the crew couldn't bail out because of this.

Well I know that all planes have the crew as physical beings in the game world, you can see this in the trailers, I just don't know if they have death animations, although one would assume they do...

thanks, i might try making some on the tiger hunt level though, maybe a belly landing or something. Yeah it sucks that the ps3 demo comes out later. :(
