its a bit like drive sims, I'm quicker with a bonnet view, but drivers seat view is so much more rewarding...plus the instruments are handy...

Exactly! +1 Good car analogy.

I find the cockpit much easier to remain orientated. I often forget which direction my plane is facing when looking at a target in virtual cockpit...

yea same problem, tracking a target suddenly noticing im going straight to the ground.

The bad news is that with the cockpit view locked in there are only 12 planes, all of them Allied, to choose from.

And that is a deal breaker.

That sucks, but not a deal breaker for me.

I just don't get sim multiplayer being 12 allied planes only. It kills it as a sim for me. An utter let down. Given the plane choices you can't even make a sudo Korean war scenario with them.

i hope the dlc with the german planes come soon and i hope its free because we deserve to get them not pay 10 euros more only for cockpits we already had to have in the beginning

That's a misunderstanding, unless you mean the game isn't Sim unless it is cockpit only view. When locked to cockpit only view by the host the game is indeed only 12 Allied planes, but all planes are usable if the host leaves the game as Sim with the choice of cockpit and virtual cockpit views. Also Anton has promised the cockpits for the Bf109 and Fw190 will be added by the end of this year, if not sooner.

yeah same here, I only tried the virtual cockpit once and hated it. I actually like third person (when not in sim mode obviously) because you get to see a lot more of the action, and the damage system looks great.

But I've got no problem with cockpit view either, and I can use it just as effectively.:)

with the cockpits its relative, but I reckon the more you use a cockpit, the more you wanna stick with it...the virtual is great for field of view, but there are aspects of intuitive play that require a cockpit for correct orientation...

IMHO sim mode is locked into the cockpit. Anything else isn't simulation as your allowed to have unrealistic view points.
