i have managed to fool around with the trainer and did some small flights, i didn't do the conf.ini edit trick yet, so far it looked nearly as a slideshow with all settings to MEDIUM...

(i got i7-875k, GTX295 and 8gb of ram ddrIII, win7 64bit)

well, my account got closed and I tried to re-open it. Got caught red handed buying a game that I really should not buy as I was not in the region...

How can we turn off that chat window?

Antialiasing... is working only partially... is anyone managed to make it work via driver settings or something?

Zuti, is your 4Gb RAM with Win7 64bit mean you are only addressing 2Gb?

There seems to be a lot of contradictory info at the moment with some saying on the Russian forums that RAM and Video Ram seem to have a larger impact on FPS rather than the processor.

SEE: Well, I think that the game can use all the available RAM as system sees it all. I'll check next time around when I run the game with task manager. I know I'll be getting at least 1GB GFX in some foreseeable future. But not just now :)

Yea I updated all the drivers. It wont even display the pilot or the plane in options where you customize them. Just black screen where pilot/plane should be, but I can select cap and uniform and stuff.

The struggle for FPS should bring the AntiEpilepcy=0 setting in the conf.ini file (after deactivating game's Steam Cloud option). The biggest FPS gain from settings can be gained by deactivating the shadows/roads/clouds/landscape details/visual effects/clickable cockpit(on/off with F10). Resolution doesn't give much of a difference, which actually means the bottleneck is not on the graphic card.

The game is not optimized at all. It's enough to watch the Pilot and Plane menu, which are only displaying a single pilot/plane, and see how poor (performance wise) is the rendering done.

Well, to be honest - hate to admit it - but I did buy WOP from YuPlay so I already had an account.

I understand you haven't spent so much time... But, when you do, how does the fps change if you go up high or far away from larger villiages/cities/object heavy areas? The claim from Oleg and Co. was that the game was very memory hogging thanks to size of map and the number of objects.. If the number of objects in the vicinity of flight can be reduced, then fps should bump up if Oleg and Co.s claim is true. :???:

Maybe there is a way to overwrite one of the files from the english version with one of the files from the russian version or vice versa, not that it will do any good just yet, although give the hackers and crackers a month with both versions and we'll have a solution I"m sure.

Anyone got any experience setting up a joystick? My Russian is poor :)

Told you guys to use Oleg's english menu screenshots as referrence..

In the top left, the first button is Keys, and the one next to it is Axes. To setup a joystick, you obviously have to go to the Axis part of controls.

- in there, the first three on top are X, Y and Z (screenshot 24)
- throttle is underneath, under engine control series (SHIFT +1, SHIFT +2, etc) (screenshot 25)
- autorudder can be found by looking for the default keys as displayed on english menu screens (screenshot 19)

F10 key is used to switch between muse looking/mouse clickable cockpit (which is also draining some FPS), so use it to switch into mouse looking mode once in the game.

There is also a setting in ini named something like CockpitOnePass=0, setting it on 1 should force render the cockpit in just one pass, with a lower graphic quality but greater performance. should, considering the name, I can't test it on my laptop, it takes like 3 minutes just to start the damn game.

Also, how did you disable Steam Cloud saving. I turned if off in the Properties part of the Steam game library but my local conf/userConf settings don't seem to stick?

exactly the same, but mine's are sticking..

just disable cloud, log out from steam, then log in again and restart game.

also, i hope you are talking about the conf.ini from user/name/documents/1C/il2, not the one from steam game's install folder.. right?!! 'cause that one is just a default reference one.

Also one question to the ones who bought at yuplay: when trying to buy via CC, a https-connection is established, but my browser complains that the validity of the certificate can't be checked. Did you also have seen this?

ok so far what i have found out is that we are missing the en-GB subfolders :( if you look in the conf there is a line that says "culture=en-GB" but the game is still in russian ...and if you look in the "launcher.exe" config file you will see a line that says :
now i went and changed that to "Culture=en-GB" and the game would not start :( i reverted it back to neutral and it started right up :) i did some diging and found the following
at this point i am guessing we are missing the subfolder :( good news is if i am right once we buy the western version we will have the folder to use :)

I appreciate all the tinkering on your behalf, but i have a small and very simple question:

instead of doing the whole back-and-forth thing to enable English in the Russian version, wouldn't it be possible to just overwrite the effects files on the western version with those of the Russian one? ;)

but and a really big BUT this game is almost unplayable lol. It should be said that i have a a crossfire set up which may be causing all of the glitches but there is such huge potential here. anyway

i managed to get myself through the training flights but not being able to map the keys and the constant stuttering is just unbearable and this is overlooking the fact that i cant read a lick of Russian. lol

the voices are in English but impossible for me to understand what the guy is saying except for a couple of words here and there since its so garbled. again might be an audio setting that i can not read to change.

LOL for 14 bucks it is well worth it to potentially have in my possession what might be the only unaltered version of the game to release ever. ill still buy the US version now when it comes but will also be editing this one when and if that becomes possible.

I have never dabbled with the video capture so im sorry for not posting a video but this will have to do.

with all the graphics turned all the way up (i think) lol the performance was playable if the filter would have been able to be turned off. there were however LOTS of visual type weird things going on all over the place clipping and just chaos except for the cockpit itself. but as stated this could be because of the crossfire set up.

verdict is this game has the potential to be the best ever if we can somehow put it back to the way it was. But even if everything was in English for this version with all the problems it still has a very long way to go

Of course when the english version is out, we can grab the english resource files from there and drop them into the russian version. It might work as well :P

The russian text resources list of the game are stored in the il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover russian.ncf in the steamapps folder. For example, I think you can modify it to link to the GB ones, but you'll have to do some file renaming for that (for example, modify the name of the english files by adding _ru to them, and drop them over the russian ones). Or you might try to modify the names from inside .ncf file, but as the file is binary, you can't just delete the _ru suffix of the files, but change it in _gb for example, then again modify all the english files by adding a _gb to them.

Hm, I was messing around with this and, well, I think you have to press ALT key and then right click when you are over chat window. Then you should see context menu with two entries. Last one closes it :D

the instructions do work, and are actually step by step. Try disabling your antivirus and use Internet Explorer if you have any problems. Also, saying what is actually not working for you might help you getting helped :)

Can't help you with this, mate, as I do not have paypal, and have a cc with a bad internet service (which is not updating the transactions situation in real time) and closed today (as it is sunday).

THis will not your problem. I have a friend with CC and he used Yuplay to buy the game and he will buy for me if i send hem money via paypal. But is it possible?? can i use the activationcode that he gets to install the game on my steam account?

I highly recommend that you create another steam account with a separate email so that you can still buy and activate the Western version if you want when it comes out. I now have two steam accounts one just for the Russian version of the game and the other for everything else.

I think adonys recommended this and i completely agree as once you activate one version of the game on a given steam account it will not let you activate the other version on that same account.

We still dont have the file that we will need to use to get the english to work with the game yet:) it will be inside of the western version when it comes out. Now once this happens hopefully we can use the process that adonys is pioneering to change the Russian to English and then once the filter is removed in theory we should be left with an English version of the original version of the game with all of its epileptic fit causing glory:) in theory that is :)

For those receiving the 401 error try changing the site's language back to Russian. It made a difference in my case.

If you want, you can change the missions from russian into english ones (not the menu's, though).

You can go to the missions folder, get the simple mission's briefing file (for example Bomber Intercept - Ships.briefing), modify its name and replace the russian briefing file (Bomber Intercept - Ships_ru.briefing). That way you should have english briefings to those missions. Yet, the training missions are not in there, so either those are only some updated ones which didn't got into a SFS, or the inside missions texts are stored in some other place.

Okay, for Clearance:

adonys meens: Use the Screenshots as reference and rename the Mission and Briefing files.
He meens not: With this the game can be changed to English Language.

no, the first one was an ideea after I saw the content of the ncf file, which is a steam file. Changing names of resources in there might have allowed the game to load the english oneas instead.. yet, now thinking again, it should only be related with Steam's update/game files maintenance.

the second post was about what can you do right now, and have it working until a complete solution will appear (probably once the english version is out, and we can get files from there).

Here, on 1C's russian site, I've just picked up yuplay from their shop list. But you need to find online version selling ones. Looking at it again, I see there's a 1C direct online shope in there, at the top of the list, you can try that for a change :)

Adonys, thanks for all your efforts and ingenuity it getting the game to work without the game killing filter.

The devs are obviously doing their best to make the game work for ubi, but at this early stage it sounds like we basically won't be happy with the result (because the filter will deliberately stop the game looking as it should). I can see people here ending up with a cracked pirate version of the game, and donating their money to whichever organisation the developers would prefer.

Good call Adonys, are you the Adonis that comes on Battle-fields mate?. Anyway i`ve got the game running via the Russian download and so has my friend, neither of us had to enter a $ figure to get the activation code, I left it for an hour after purchasing, went back and they`d given me the code, same for me mate. If you get a way to get the menus up in English i`d be very grateful to hear it, short of getting myself a Russian bride who`s technically gifted (as well as other things!!!) , i think i`ll be blundering round for hours with this.

I`m not getting a slideshow, I have a Phenom2 X4 at 3.5 , 4gb Ram, a 4870x2 (not crossfiring though) and Win7 64 on a 21" Dell CRT at 1280x?x32. At what I perceive to be mid range settings i`m getting between 25 - 40 fps over water and land, not been near London yet. Can`t stop blowing the engines up though lol, need to assign a rads key possibly.

i tried to find the axis option menu.i think i did but dont know how to make my ch fighterstick to work properly.the only thing that works is still the throttle-wheel.the stick itself doesnt work.but i recognized that i can fly with the keyboard arrow-buttons.

besides:where is the epilepsy filter in the conf. file???

Are you sure your problems are not releated to runing on your western systems? All the vids i see on you tube of russians running the game dont seem to behave as badly as your saying yours does.
Can any of the russian guys confirm there systems are saying the game is poorly optimised?
Also remember Arma2 in the begining, it was a nightmare now its way better. :)

Excuse my complete ignorance here, but if it is an entire new game engine would the conf.ini not be... er... well different. This looks pretty much identical to that of Il2 apart from a few add in's. It looks like you could take an Il2 conf add a few lines take a few bits out and your good to go.
