millions thanks macademic!!! |
uh what a pitty i dont have a chance to take part of ur tournament. so good luck enyone. u all got the best chanes if i'm not competing... rofl
for me the meistor and vdomini or olife are the favorits. somehow meistor will get under first three places. with a fokker d9 i rip of the most p51 pilots but the meistor didnt let me come to a single shoot in our games. he uses 7 1/2 - max elevator settings and for other pilots the mustang behaves to slippy i guess. so he would probably win is there no german competitor yet??? what a shame... googd flight goog fight |

In fact we do have a German competitor, tommykocher. Just wondering, why do you think you cannot join the tournament? Do you not have time, or are there other reasons? If you think you cannot take part because you're not a member or Friend, I could easily put you on the friend's list and then you could join. Requirement would only be that you commit yourself to completing your matches. MAC |

Thanks for including me in your list eheh but my flying skills are pretty rusty, i need some training before the tournament... and you are the most dangerous BF109 pilot i've ever met into il2 game! I have been playing with almost all the player that have been signed up in the tournament, and they are very good and hard to beat! That would be a real challenge and, most of all, a real super fun! Some of my very personal consideration about.... themeistor has showed a very fast and deadly learning about how to rule il2 pixels sky! Very very strong player. Hard to beat. wolfsalt nicknamed "the evil" by me :-P real ace, can't beat him  Olife and Mirgervin Well? What can i say? i simply can't beat them lol. I feel like they are very old player and have been supporting this game by playing it online for AGES.... it would be nice if they would get some prizes :) Feeling like they deserve it  macademic "the teacher"... flying following his rules, he flyes like a ghost.... invisible and uncatchable! Also very creative and full of will :) I have never met Edal86 in game but i fear like he's super strong  I've seen him on 1st place on the ladder list for several months.... See you soon! |
To give you an Idea of Edals strength he can beat good players with plenty of skill in an FW190 (and we all know how much it sucks in this game) with us in spitfires.
|
Hey all, i'd just like to mention that I'm at college Tuesday til Thursday. I'm 'grounded' for those days since I won't be at home. I could maybe manage to play Thursday nights, weather permitting.

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...=ps3+save+data A bit down the first page should show the data, just paste (unzipped I think) onto a memory stick, put it into the console. Go to the save data section, you'll see the USB drive option and you can copy it over so you don't need the card in. Though trophies will be locked out, you'll have most of the aircraft. Warning though, That may be a rusty explanation! :P (I'm sure someone can clarify) If It doesn't work then you can rely on me getting off my but and trying it with mine! :D Enjoy! |

;) But seriously, Vdomini for me you are also a top contender for the title! Tournament starting in one week! MAC |

Player info
Greetings fellow flyers.
I am looking forward to this tournament, and to try to battle you guys in the skies again. This is my player info: Homemap: Sicily Prefered days: Monday to Thursday Prefered time: 10 pm and out ECT+1 Connection ratio: Down 4 mbit/sec - up 0,4 mbit/sec PSN id: kavorland Mac Maybe we should ad this info at every player at the list of participants ? Flight log: 18.02.11 Quarter final against Mirgervin. The match set at Britain, evening and clear weather. On my recce flights I bumped into edal and wolfsalt on this map earlier in the day. They both tought me a lesson in T&B fighting and I had to reconcider my tactics against Mirgervin. I also found the D5 easy to spot under these conditions, and prayed that Mirgervin would use this. As he is the better pilot, I needed to be the better tactic. We met late evening and set of, both in the B :( As I guessed Mirgervin where a low level T&B fighter, much better then me. I chose to go high, get a birds eye on things, spot him first and B&Z him. After a long search I spotted him below me, maneuvered in position and commenced attack but lost him out of sight against the ground. I broke of to stay undetected and repositioned my self. Same procedure again and lost him again, d_mn him for choosing the B version. Third time, he spots me and gets the better position, wings me on approach and I am to damaged to regain position, he gets me. From respawn I head straight at him, leveled head on, he gets the better aim and hits my left wing, I believe I got some shots in him but my left wing is read. As of this my turn becomes to wide and he is obviously not that damaged as he is on my six again and gets me the second time. Respawn, but time is against me and dont get to reencounter. 13.02.11 Stabler put up a good fight in first match. I have been grounded for a week and made some silly mistakes in the first match and Stapler got me good. Recovered some in the second. Good flying and finally airborne again. Stapler won the first with nasty figures, I won the next with a scream.... 31.01.11 Second leg in the tourney. Had reaper and Joed70 schedueled. First match out against reaper on my home map. He got the first kill from a head on. Next one I out turned him and shot him down. The match battled to and from in tight turns and clean shots. I ended up killed 3 times and reaper 2 but crashed 4. Total reaper 3/4 and me 2/3, I win. Rematch on reapers turf, Dover. He got me again on the first encounter and again I retaliated. After that I missed out on the next encounter, lost him outta sight and had to pay for that as he got behind and shot me down. Reaper in the lead and turned defensive. In my quest for my next kill we ended uo above Scotland ;) where reaper was at high altitude, in my climbchase I got to eager and didnt see him turn down on me. A beautiful B/Z kill from reaper and he had 3 vs 1. Respawn and picked him up again, manoeverd behind him, but the fox throttled of as I was in shoot range, I overshoot and missed out. Reaper wins the second of two great games. Next up was Joed70. He had returned to his ps3pad. He managed to get some shots in me in both matches, but in the turns he had problems in spinning out and became easy pray. 2 wins to me. Great game Joed. 24.01.11 Rematch against Olife. I hosted on the Sicily map. First encounter was a straight head on were Olife made some hits. Banking right after the pass. my plane was to damaged to keep flyin. Olife scores. Respawned and of to another head on, same happens again. evasive manuever set to late yet again. Next time I managed to get around him and get some hits, Olife grounds it. Olife 2 me 1 when I hit a roof at low level. Then Olife starts his evasive manuevers and I am left chasing him through half Italy and ends up in yet another total f**k roof. Olife 2 kills 2 deaths and me 1 kill 4 deaths..... 21.01.11 Second match against Macademic. He hosted at Sicily, the coast and flew the D5. Mac went for altitude advantage from start. After finally spotting him high up, my climb started, trying to stay undedected. From Macs movements, I had to abort and re-establish climb patterns. After a long climb, I managed to come on his six and got a lucky hit. Mac turned downwards, and we went spiralling towards the sea. He was constantly performing advanced evasive manuevers but I managed to get some more hits as we went downwards. At sea level, he almost managed to out manuever me at low level/low speed turns but luckily for me he overperformed and spun out to crash in the sea. From respawing Mac comes right out in leveled flight attacking me. My evasive maneuver is set to late and he hits me slightly, but I manage to stay out of his aim and in control of the plane and as we battle around time runs out. A very thight and good fight. 19.01.2011 Tonight was the first match night in the tourney for me. I had scheduled matches with Olife. We battled two matches against each other and Olife won both. Unfortunatly we both missed out on the respawn/disengagement rule in both matches. As of this we agreed, after consulting Mac, to cancel the first and schedule a rematch as this match was the one suffering most from this. Later on I hosted a match against Mac and got lucky. Learning from my tactical errors against Olife, I managed to get the upper hand and held it through the match. Thanks to you both guys. |
Any news on standby places? I have just upgraded from 22" to 32" BoP screen so sim is now a possibility! :-)

Hello everybody,
I'm very pleased to present you the Official Tournament video. There is no Youtube video at the moment, but we have it on Vimeo. I've attached a medium resolution file for you to download, and there is also a link for a high resolution download. HQ download Enjoy watching! MAC A big applause to the creator of this video, Glodark7, together with graphic artists bartekwarc and fenris, and many many thanks! |
A big hand to the creators!
I'm about to run out of words guys... The revitalisation of BoP is priceless! I'm impressed. |
Here's my player info:
Homemap: Berlin Prefered days: Monday to Thursday, but absolute possible at weekends too. Prefered time: 19 pm and out ECT+1 Connection ratio: Down 10 mbit/sec - up 1.0 mbit/sec PSN id: McQ59 BattleBlog 1'st mission against Edal86 tonight. A real close and intens game. He got out 1 point on top in each. (If my memory don't serve me well here, you gotta excuse me Edal!) Great fun and a real good experience. Did a cpl of "rookiefu*k-ups there. (Allways remember the combatflaps!) 2'nd mission against winny1973. A mission I didn't look forward to, but it went out just fine. (I'm really happy I didn't convert to cars & racetracks back in '10. I was close, but resisted!) He got me a cpl of times at Stalingrad in winter, but over Berlin I ruled the sky. Another nervewrecking experience, but it was nice to score the first points in the tourny. Thanks for being a great sport Winny! 3'rd misson Cheers wolf! 2 intense missions. Man, you can't fool this pilot. If u miss him your're done for. Agressive skilled. He won his homemap, I won mine. Anyway... Great matches. The chase of the bluenosed bitch is on! 4'th mission Themeistor came in fast with guns blazing! Cpl of attacks from high, but mostly head-ons in treetop-level. Good close fight, but the rounds in the engine and wings on the headons gave the Old Crow a bad limp. All in all a really close shave, but themeistor got both matches. Guess I'm heading back to base and a beer at the mess with the chaps after this one. Two good games, but all the same... Not satisfactory. Good luck to themeistor! 5'th mission and Mage_016 sets off over Berlin. I flame him in the first encounter, and he get's me in the second. It develops in to a give&take, but in the end I get the upperhand. A good and intense match! A hard and fair opponent but the Old Crow takes no prisoners, and I can return to base. And I guess the Old Crow will return to his hangar. Bruised in battle - but not totally wrecked after all. The old bird will propably fly another day... Cheers Gentlemen - and whatch your six! |

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/attachm...3&d=1294392861
INFOS: PSN: MACADEMIC 1C ID: MACADEMIC Country: Malta Time Zone: UTC+1 Languages: English, German Avaibility: 24/7, per prior arrangement Internet Connection: Up: 0.4 Mbps, Down: 4 Mbps Homemap: Sicily, The Coast MESSAGE BOARD: Tournament Closed! BLOG: 27/02/2011: Superbrawl day. Not all matches in the B tournament were completed, Tommy went MIA and was disqualified. So today Mirgervin and I played a little finals in the B, since we were the ones with the most points in the group. I must say it was the worst match I have played in a long time, especially in the B. My Mustang felt heavy, sluggish, the engine weak. I couldn't maneuver, really couldn't keep up at all. Whatever good I had felt about my flying was just not there in the crucial moment, and my otherwise loyal Mustang failed me. The victory I carried away was not much deserved. Mirgervin crashed too many times without my involvement. i don't know why but perhaps he had reached his goals and was not able to tune to the fickle settings after his day of glory. Anyway, I grabbed the title, perhaps deserved all in all, but this match was awful. 8:7 15/02/2011: Today was a match to remember. If there ever was a good reason to have a blog, this was it. B tournament, rematch against Mirgervin. This man was born with wings. What he was producing with the P-51B was just incredible. Longest scissors and knifeedge fighting I can remember - ever! No one able to gain clear advantage, it fittingly ended with us crashing into each other. Two old samurai warriors ending an unwinnable fight with mutually mortal blows. Wow. Although the match was very even, Mirgervin took victory home on the day. 4:5. Epic match! 11/02/2011: Last two matches in the A tournament group phase for me today. I'm playing dkwookie, a serial killer in Arcade but not quite so much in Simulator - yet! Got to watch him in the future. First match I lose control of my plane too easily and carelessly give a good lead away. Better luck on my home match, where I keep the upper hand throughout. In the end we both carry on victory home. A nice end of the A tournament for me. 07/02/2011: I was hoping not having to do this, but after wakespeak failed to reply to my messages and that of other players for such a long time, Edal and I agreed that it's best to disqualify him. I don't know the reason for his sudden departure and loss of interest (someone using his account is frequently popping up on PSN), but we felt it's best to disqualify him and not keep everyone running after him. A bit sad for the tournament but what can we do? 07/02/2011, continued: Two great matches in the A tournament against Olife. First one a clear 0:4, second one we fight hard and in the end it's a respectable 4:5. Great matches Olife San! 06/02/2011: Rematch against Edal in the B tournament, it takes us a long time to find each other, and he finds me first. I come spiralling down from high when he gets me and blackens my windscreen. We end the match with 2:2. Good match, Edal has improved much in flying Club Rules! 04/02/2011: Rematch against Mage in the B tournament, I host this time. Mage is dangerous and efficient today, I'm soon behind with 1:3. Pulling myself together to avoid a loss, I go on the offensive. At 3:3, the decisive moment of the match: Mage is behind me, I'm maneuvering wildly to escape his bullets, and he plunges to the sea! Lucky escape. The game ends with 5:4 for me, a lucky win! GREAT MATCH! 30/01/2011: Nice match against Mirgervin in the B tonight. We both played offensively, I won 6:3. 29/01/2011: 'A' tournament, matches versus Reaper. A pretty straightforward affair, my goal is to not allow him more than three kills within the 20 minutes period. I'm no coward, but he's a very strong player and I'm disadvantaged flying Club Rules. And so, not surprising, when we do come in vicinity and I see his red dot, the next I see is him firmly in my six with guns blazing. I achieve my modest goals. 0:3, both matches. 'B' tournament, visitor match against tommy. Tommy and I often play Club Rules and it's always fun. He's a cool tactician and able to jump his opponents when they don't expect it, usually from high. I decide to not leave the high road all to him alone and climb from the beginning. It takes a while til I see his red dot, but the next thing is him shooting. Again, he managed to somehow find me first and get on my six. But his shots are from too far, so I slam the power full forward and begin a frantic dive, his bullets zooming past me left and right. Reaching tree level I continue to extend away from him, my D5 at advantage here. When I reach enough distance, I drop combat flaps, cut the power and bank hard back into the bogey. My maneuver is working, he's zooming past and I briefly hit him. He begins a steep defensive left turn close to the ground, I follow, revs up. Any mistake here can be deadly. I don't have enough speed to yo yo, so have to stay close to the ground. He starts gaining on me ever so slightly, but for a split second he's pulling too hard, stalls and slams into the ground. Lucky to have survived! I pull away to gain altitude before our next encounter. When his red dot appears, it is behind me, again! I power up and extend in a straight line, the costly A tournament matches have taught me better than to hang around a red dot of which I don't know where he is - if he sees me I'm dead. After gaining some distance, I turn back to face him, but we don't find each other. At the end Tommy crashes a second time. I win 2:0.* * Tommy was very upset with my defensive flying, his second crash in protest as time ran out. Perhaps there's something to it, being a rat in a barrel in the 'A' leaves some marks, lol. 28/01/2011: Matches against Stapler. Not surprisingly, he always sees me first. However, he has a couple of accidents, which swings luck in my direction. Good matches. End result 3:2, both matches. 26/01/2011: Beginning of Week 2. Week 1 has been really successful, most matches took place. After catching up with Edal, we'll decide what to do with the missed ones. We also introduced some penalties to enforce the chosen homemaps and the correct submissions of results. Hope this will work, Edal's having a hard time chasing everybody for missing infos. 23/01/2011: Early morning match for me, very early morning match for Edal (time difference 9 hours). B-tournament. I host. We both set off into the hazy evening of the Sicilian coast with P-51Bs. Many minutes pass before we even see the red dots of each other. Then, a near head on pass very close to the ground nearly brings disaster. The first I see are blazing guns, hitting my engine. A quick look over the shoulder confirms glycol streaming out, but my controls are intact. Also no oil on windscreen. This engine will last me for some more minutes. On the engine's last breath I score my third kill, before I ditch into the sea. 3:1. 22/01/2011: First match in the B-tournament versus Mage, he hosts. I've been looking forward to this. Like a rat in a barrel in the A tournament with my selfmade triple handicap cockpit, no hud and full sense - here the playing field is even. And how much I like it. Unfortunately Mage has some internet problems and at a score of 1:1, we lose connection. On the second go luck is on my side, and after a thrilling 20 minute match I win 2:0. Great immersion, great match! Good to play with Mage again. 21/01/2011: Rematch against KAV, this time I host. KAV spots me flying very high and manages to sneak on me, undetected. He hits me good with his first pass, my windscreen turning black, but nearly stalls out in the thin air. Through the oil I'm aiming at him and think I hit him, but only lightly. Trying to dive away to safety in the clouds, but to no avail, with the oiltrail I'm leaving behind. I receive a few more hits which cripple my airplane, losing next to all aileron control to the left. What follows are minutes of agony, KAV is in a position to shoot but doesn't. I'm trying my luck by taking next to all speed out, and it's working, he overshoots. But my crippled crate doesn't want move into action anymore, and I can't get my guns on him. Finally, exhausted, I crash into the sea. With only minutes left, I power up towards the point of our last encounter. KAV has retreated but I find him, hit him a few times but can't bring him down. Time runs out, and the score is 0:1. Good match. 19/01/2011: Day 3 brings defeat in my first match with KAV as visitor. Looks like I can outrun but not outturn him in his P-51B (I flew the D5). Made some silly mistakes like crashing into him after a kill, but all in all he just was the better flyer on the day. Hope for better luck on rematch. 18/01/2011: Day 2 of the tournament. Really happy about the kickoff yesterday. Great many thanks to Gaijin for sponsoring, received reimbursement for the trophies only minutes after showing them. Now that much of my work has been done, it's time to enjoy... 17/01/2011: Inauguration day, getting all ready last minute, but we're making it. First match with JOE, great sport but handicapped by a new joystick he insists on using. So luckily, inspite of my insistence on flying under my own silly rules, I win both matches. |

Made it through my first encounter with JRHOODY alive and fairly unscathed. Wasn't an easy match by any stretch though. And then there was MIRGERVIN, or atleast I think it was him. I didn't actually see his plane in the Dover match (lol), but my plane constantly turning into a fireball told me he was there. After, total and utter defeat I proceeded to Berlin where I unfortunately ran into him again. This time I was better prepared. I took note of his maneuvers and tried to match them best I could. This managed to give me enough of an edge to actually see his plane and even get a few rounds off. We passed so close a few times, Ill have a new haircut when I get home. Hope the wife likes it. |
I have to cancel my position in the tournament. It looks like i can't make it.

good news, bad news....
Sorry guys, I am "forced" to cancell my partecipation for the tournament. That breaks my heart a lot, friends and people that knows me might be interestend knowing the reason why, and i feel like informing them about the reason ( read the following post ). I am not quitting IL2, it's my fav game on ps3, i just don't have spare time anymore to play playstation as i used to have in the past, specially for the next months... Can't tell right now. I wish you a good, challenging, fair tournament and, may the best win! Always, take it easy this is a game! :-P I feel like sharing part of my private life with friend that might wanna know why i can't play anymore as i used to do, i just feel like spending more word on it. If interested, keep reading, otherwise, feel free skipping next post. Quitting few days before the torunament starts make me feel very bad toward people who spent a lot of effort and energy setting up the rule and the tournament ( the great MACADEMIC, edal86 and more... ) but i misjudged the energy i will have to spend in my incoming commitment. Tournament sadly happened just too late ... i wish it could have been settled up last year :( Anyway.... The new years have brought a lot of new things ( most of them happily wished ) into my life and my little free time is getting short day by day. I 've got new timetable at my work place ( some more strict shifts :( ) and some great things just have happened at the beginning of the last week that had consumed all my free time, that sadly forced me to cancel my parteciaption at the tournament, because i would not be able to connect at night anymore as i used to do. ( I will have to work from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 pm, getting home around at 9.00 p.m. so my only free time is located during night hours, that have to be optimized... main reason explained next.... ) Apart from my work, wich i could easily handle, that would not the main "problem", in my spare time i'm a jazz musician ( been playing guitar and more musical instrument for around 20 years, jazz rock pop but approached jazz music in a serious way around three years ago ) and the new years have brought me the possibility to build up a quintet after years of "underground work" with some great musician i know  and also the possibility to work, study and grow with some great and "historical" artist that lives in my city. That's mean that at night ( few free night time hours i have during the week ) i will have to do rehearsal and stay very very focused on this, spending more time studyng / arranging / composing / experimenting and practicing music as i never had done before. ( Musician i will play with have, of course, expetation, as i do, and i want to perform at the maximum of my capabilities, also, you never end learing new things in music, and, i think, life also, who knows where this path will leads me ) This is a great luck for me, but, unluck because it 's just started same time with the tournament :( Oh.... ehehe i also have a family, of course, luckly my wife is a musucian too ( she sings ) and support me. I won't annoy you longer with things reagaring private life not concerned to the game, so, i wish you the best and might the best win! I'll check the ladder board and results from work! ehehehe that would be fun! HUGS V. |

Of course I'm a bit sad that you will not be on the tournament, but thank you for taking the time to explain. I'm sure this is not easy for you since we all know how much you love this game. On the other hand I'm very happy for your opportunity. Music is a beautiful seducer - go with it! MAC |
Hello all!
As you probably already know Vdomini had to withdraw his participation from the tournament. Therefore we unfortunately have to reduce the number of participants to 16 to ensure a fair and balanced tournament with an equal number of players in each group. The four players on the first waitinglist have been moved back to the waitinglist. We want to give all of them an equal chance to qualify for the 16th position in the tournament. The most committed and strongest player will be able to participate. The players on the waitinglist are: 1. dkwookie 2. Ratman91101 3. draux 4. JRHOODY1 Qualification Match Saturday 15/01/2011 at 2000UTC Due to the shortage of time, we cannot wait for all players to play each other like in the group phase of the tournament. Therefore, I will host a 30 minute dogfight today Saturday 15/01/2011 at 2000UTC, in which I will fly as a referee in a bomber and retire to a corner of the action respectively fly high above as to not interfere. I will be clearly distinguishable as a bomber on the map, so don't waste your time and lives with me. Map and weather will be established randomly. Players have to chose either P-51 D5 or P-51 B. Armament as per the tournament rules, landings and bomb dropping are not allowed and lead to disqualification. The player with the least amount of deaths at the end of the 30 minute qualification match will qualify for the 16th position in the tournament. If two or more players end up with the same amount of deaths, the match will be repeated until we have a clear result. The qualification match will take place if a minimum of 2 players show up. The others will have forfeited their chance to qualify. If only one player shows up, he will have qualified without having to play a match. If none shows up, we will pick one player out of the four according to the commitment and frequency of playing recently shown. I'm sorry about this late change but we have to deal with the new situation in the best possible way. If you're one of the four on the waitinglist, please indicate whether or not you're planning to take part in the qualification match later today. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for your understanding. MAC P.S.: make sure you have me on your Friends list, if it is full make room for me. I will invite everyone I can see on PSN at the stated time to join a text chat to meet before the qualification match. |

I'm looking forward to our second dance of death with a very worthy adversairy. Flight2: Olife Vs Myself Very much the same as the first! Head ons and ended with a few turn and burn - crippling on the first pass and bringing him down on the turn and burn session. Great flight! Flights 3+4: Dkwookie and Myself Well, Dk is a good pilot, we had quite a good fur ball and ended with me winning both. Dk lost me a few times when I was on his tail though I got critical hits on him on most passes - I feel bad for defeating you like I did. Sorry! Flights 5 and 6: Crafty Mac! Well done to Mac, even though you insisted on using your Club Rules. I'm scared to think what you can do with an easier crate! I ended up boom and zooming him after a tense cat and mouse searching session - a devious plan to only let me get 3-0 ahead. Well flown! Flights 8+9: Kavorland The most tense match yet. The first match I lost and the second I won. If I hadn't made two mistakes then I would have drawn or even won both. Great T+B fighter. I ended up having to resort to BnZ tactics which worked for my second round - great flight! |
Bummer! I won't be available until a few hours after that (not entirely sure when work will wrap up for the day). I'll just cross my fingers that the others might be a few hours late too. If something changes I'll just be online and waiting but i dont see me making it on that short of notice. :(

Hello all,
The qualification match was played today from 2025UTC between RATMAN91101, draux36 and dkwookie. Map and weather were established randomly (Britain Kent, weather good). A big thank you for all to come and play for the qualification on such short notice. I'm really sorry this has become necessary. Also, JRHOODY1, I'm very sorry you probably didn't know about it. Please don't let this stop your enthusiasm for the game - we'll have other events in the future. Same goes for the ones who fought bravely but didn't qualify today. I'm posting the results below. draux36 has qualified. MAC http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/attachm...5&d=1295130365 http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/attachm...4&d=1295130240 |
Cheers guys, great match. I ended up in a turning battle with draux that seemed to last 3 minutes! It was treetop level and I realised I was getting closer and closer to a hillside but we kept on each other.
Thanks for organising this mac, pleasure to take part and good luck to everyone. Looking forward to seeing the results get posted |

Important News!
Dear all!
'After some discussions Edal and I decided to honor the great commitment shown by ALL who were on the waitinglist and allow ALL of them to participate in the tournament. We found a good way to make the groups still very fair and even.' We're very happy we found a way to allow all to participate, while keeping the groups and rules fair and balanced. RATMAN91101, dkwookie, JRHOODY1, I'm pleased to inform you that you are in! There will be three groups in the A) tournament: Group A1): 6 players Group A2): 6 players Group A3): 7 players The best 3 of group A3) will directly qualify for the Quarterfinals (best of 8 ). From groups A1) and A2), the best 2 of each will directly qualify. The remaining Quarterfinalist will be determined by an elimination match between the 3rd of groups A1) and A2). In the groups of 6 each player will have 5 opponents and play 10 matches total (excluding a possible elimination match for QF). In group A3) each player will face 6 opponents and play 12 matches total. The groups will be determined by randomizing the list of participants. This will be done by utilising the following pubic internet application: http://www.random.org/lists/ The resulting list contains a timestamp in UTC to verify authenticity. I will randomize the list today at precisely 1700UTC. The resulting randomized list will be final and not changed. Further, I will take and publish a screenshot of the resulting list as soon as possible. The groups will be made up like this: Randomized list positions 1-6: Group A1) Randomized list positions 7-12: Group A2) Randomized list positions 13-19: Group A3) Everybody is invited to be online at the forum at 1700UTC to receive the news first and discuss the outcome! Good luck to us all! MAC |
I'll be here! 1700 hours, on the dot! :-P

My Net Speed is Nat 2, Standard bandwidth, 5 Meg down with 500k up per sec.
My available times(GMT-4) Mon Jan 17, 18:15-21:30; Tue Jan 18, 19:00-21:30, Wed Jan 19, 19:00-21:30, Thurs Jan 20, 19:00-21:30; Fri Jan 21, Unavailable; Sat Jan 22, TBA. I throw the gauntlet down to Sir Mac, I want to challenge him as my first combatant. Please message me with your preferred time, & I will post my projected schedule to fly with each group member. Catch me if you can....I'm the Gingerbread Man! Played my first 2 matches with Sir Mac of Malta on Opening nite Monday Jan 17 . In pregame chat Mac indicated he would fly by his very strick club rules and I would use my new Thrustmaster stick . It did not go so well for me Mac skunked me both sorties . Although towards end of last match I was starting to get more comfortable with new controls . Mac came away with 7 kills although 2 were do pilot error. One of his kills was a thing of beauty a 1 sec burst that had my Stang an instant fireball. one other had my elevators destroyed and locked in nose down I ejected from A/C . Mac is the most disciplned Virtual Ace his club rules flying allthough a handicap will have you in real trouble if your in his sights he is deadly accurate. :!: The Joystick vs Ps3 Controller my thoughts Stick allows for very fine slow speed control Triming causes the aircraft to allmost squat it seems once trimed I noticed the view from cockpit changed like I was sitting lower in my seat ( strange ) . 2 Problems with stick one being that POV hat sems to only be digital so no true panning of view second allthough very percise in throttle control there seems to be some lag reacts like a jet slower to spool . Pad has no engine lag and analog pov with stick. Have next match tonite Fri Jan 21 2000 GMT versus Stapler . |
Right, I have tomorrow (Monday 17th) afternoon off so if your free from about 1400h then I can have a game! Any takers? (GMT)
I'd like to get some battles out of the way! |
Yeah, I better hand my azz in there fast myself...
I'm on tomorrow night from about 19:00. Feel free chaps. |
Everybody:
1.) Hold your guns and horses until Edal publishes the official match schedule! Due to the last minute changes, and other circumstances, the schedule is not quite ready yet and still has to be finalized. No tournament matches shall be played before the schedule has been published! 2.) Please use your 'homepages' (the messages you posted and which are linked to your name in the player's list) as your message boards to announce your availability etc. You can easily edit them by clicking on your name in the first post, which will take you right to your 'homepage'. Would be also nice if you would use these homepages as your tournament 'Blog', to describe some matches, keep public notes, whatever you like. Will be nice to read up on for everyone later on! 3.) Those who have not made 'homepages' (simply by replying on the thread with some essential data about themselves), please do so as soon as possible. 4.) We had to delay the presentation of the Tournament Trophies until tomorrow. But it's okay to present them on Inauguration Day, so you all can keep an eye on what you're fighting for (figure medieval jousting). And, the trophies might look a bit familar... Thank's all! MAC |

I won my first round, even managed to successfully ram my opponent! He mentioned over the radio that he had trouble with his controls, but he still put up a good fight. He forfeited the second match, and lived to fight another day, but not before we had a game of 'chicken' and both lost! Ace Tip: Watch your throttle if you're on this guys tail. I almost overshot a couple of times... 22/1/1944 dkwookie The lads back at base won't let me live this one down... Lost 3-8 to a pilot who claimed to have trouble flying the mustang. Schoolboy errors all over the place. Forfeited my second match 0-4. I guess it just wasn't my day. I'm getting worried I might not survive this war: If this is a pilot who has trouble flying, what will the true aces be like? Ace Tip: Don't underestimate your opponent. What they think is bad flying could be your idea of good flying... 28/1/1944 MACADEMIC HQ assigned me to engage one of the true aces I'd been regretting going up against. Two close engagements ensued, with 'MAC' clinching both wins, but not without having to fight for them! Theres rumours going around the base of a new enemy superweapon: a network of underground magnets designed to lure inexperienced allied pilots (usually myself) to a hard landing! Ace Tip: Make sure you get the first hit. This guy can fly a damaged plane better than a lot of guys fly normally, and he's deadly if you don't take him out quickly. 30/1/1944 Olife Y'know those days when your plane just seems to be in a bad mood? I just had one. I accepted defeat in both rounds, no point in wasting valuable aircraft. My opponent was gracious in victory, I just wish my bird didn't stall so much. As soon as I landed, I asked the squadron CO if I could return to flying my trusty old hurricane. He said that would be against regulations... I guess I'm stuck in the 'stang for now. Ace Tip: This pilot flies in true French style: VERY fast, and VERY low. Keep your eyes peeled, as he's tough to spot from a distance. 12/2/1944 reaper1526 Recieved yet another kicking today. Even mixing things up in the P-51B didn't save me. Started clawing things back at the end of the two matches, but it was too little, too late. I've been in the hangar withe the ground crew, keeping my old hurricane in flying condition. Something tells me I aint getting to the end of this operation. Ace Tip: After a head on pass, this guy usually goes vertical. Position yourself accordingly. 13/2/1944 kavorland Finally broke my losing streak today. Scraping the tiles off Sicilian houses, I tried to stay as difficult to spot as possible. Ran out of ammo on one engagement, tried to ram my opponent but hit the ground. Next match was back in England. After staying even stevens for 3 kills each (with some reversals thrown in), kav took me out and went upstairs, leaving me charging around the countryside, desperate to even the scores. Two very well balanced matches in the P-51B. Ace Tip: My flying style is similar to kavs, so I'll need to keep you guys in the dark this time! Epilogue Well, I got word from HQ today that I'm being transferred back to my old unit. I'll still be in the skies, but I doubt I'll ever use the mustang again! Any prospective aces looking for some easy kills can challenge me to a duel, and I'll oblige them if I'm not busy. This is The_Stapler, signing off. |
