What the... ?
Where'd you dig that one up from?!

Payen PA-22/2 ?

flynlion 11-16-2009 01:50 AM

Now that's a good one! Sort of a cross between the Dornier Arrow and one of Lippish's Delta experiments. I like it.

i will give no clues
if you get one plane right i will just say wrong
if you get plane right and mark wrong i will say just wrong
and because im tight i will say wrong if the mark number is in wrong place
sorry for poor quality
plane buffs should know this

winny 11-16-2009 05:33 PM

The one in the foreground looks like a Kyushu J7W1 "Shinden" Intercepter?

And is that an A6M Zero in the background?

winny 11-16-2009 05:38 PM

And here's my next one seeing as I got the 'flying dart' one...

Does a little bit. But the MiG-15 doesn't have as great of a view for the pilot as the Sabre, and the Sabre doesn't have such a tall tail like the MiG. Which for the MiG was a plus and a minus.

P-51 11-21-2009 06:03 PM

Im assuming just by looking that the Sabre could out roll the Mig-15 then?

Yah, MiG-15 is the one one that's more similar to the MiG-9 I need to learn to shoot down in my YP-80 on 1946; from those two shots it's clear just how dissimilar they are, huh. lolme

Well not exactly a "cone" but a longer protruding nose. This is a F-86D "Dog". The nose had radar in it, so that's why the nose is longer. :)

Thats definitely a Mig 21 fishbed used by the former east Germans. (you can see the square on the tail.) We all make mistakes!

Nope, sorry. Close, but no dice.

It looks like a MiG 9 but the cockpit is too far back.

<> It is the la-174tk.

Nope, sorry. Good guess, I probably wouldn't have said La-174 though. Look at this plane, then look at a La-174.

Ekranoplans are nice :).

This was a plane contest :P

Does that thing actualy fly? I want one!

Vulcan607 11-24-2009 07:41 PM

Nice Seraph
and P51 sort of its a ground effect vehicle. Or Ecranoplan

Ancient Seraph 11-24-2009 07:42 PM

1 Attachment(s)
Technically the ekranoplan flies.. It uses ground effect to just skid over the surface. It needs water to take off, but can fly over ground just as well, as long as it's flattish.

P-51 11-24-2009 07:42 PM

Ahhh so its more economical and faster that a boat then? Nice!

Edit: Vought XF5U? or the 'flying pancake'?

Ancient Seraph 11-24-2009 07:45 PM

Quote:

Originally Posted by P-51 (Post 122265)

Nope :P. It needed so much power to overcome the drag in the water and actually get up in the air that it proved to be inefficient. The idea is good though.
Look up the Caspian Sea Monster. It needed the engines just to take-off. It needed less than half of that power to maintain flight once established.
EDIT: Yup.

P-51 11-24-2009 07:46 PM

Yeh, it would be better if you optimised the engines so they worked better at 45% say.

Try this one..... it is a Royal Navy turret fighter with a 1:28 kills to loss rate, the 1 kill being a Ju-88 over Dunkirk in 1940.

This is most likely the most ugly fighter aircraft ever built in WW2.
