Is there a DEAD PILOT ANIMATION?

As in, if you fly next to the bomber, would you actually SEE the dead pilot? I did some 'inspect runs' on crippled bombers but i never saw a dead pilot (yet?)

I have not seen one before, but thats because you dont really have enough time to pull up alongside when the plane is dropping. anyone else seen a dead pilot in the cockpit?

I think there is an animation for the pilot slumping over the controls, and the same goes for all other crew members, because thats how it works in the PC version. Trouble with not having replays is you can't get a good look at the planes when you shoot them down.

ah right, but in the video did you notice how the pilot was turning to one side, i thought that maybe he might have leant on the controls and forced the plane into a turn, rather like in GTA 4?

Could be. I'll have to try that out with some head on passes later and see if they go down any particular way.

I doubt the control stick is linked to the tailplanes, probably just an animation of the stick leaning to the right with the pilot on top of it, and forcing the plane down by using the physics model...

The GTA IV physics model is focused more on characters since it's supposed to mimic a city, you can't expect a flying simulator to have the same level of animation as a sandbox game. Although I must say that I've had tons of fun with the GTA IV physics model. Shooting a police officer in the head through the side window, after which he planted his foor firmly on the throttle and sped off into the distance crashing into a brick wall, launching the passenger through the front window, priceless!

Forget dead pilot animation, has anyone actually been able to see an enemy pilot?

By the time i have fiddled the right stick and got close enough, i usually either over-shoot or collide with the enemy!

David603 08-18-2009 03:31 PM

Well, the devs will have set it up so if the pilot is killed the plane goes into a dive, or something like that. Thats how it works in GTA, although there are a couple of different animations and the one chosen is picked at random so it doesn't look like exactly the same thing happens everytime you hit the driver.

thanks for your input man, but maybe Anton himself can tell us about the psychics engine used on the pilots?

Man he looked like he was flying supersonic at the end.
