No, he just says he is busy if you talk to him afterwards (just had another check, since I did not remember... luckily, there was a savegame left not too long before the point)
edit: the fire elemental gave me three magic runes and a summon phoenix scroll. So pick the fire elemental ;-) (now again I'm not 100% sure that Arkton did not give me runes, but pretty sure)

I think the outcome is pretty much the same, but you get a different title based on your choice.

About the sword. If I choose light can i return it to darkness? What's the stats? and what i must kill to get each one?

It's morale goes up by 5 when you fight undead or demon armies, down by 5 when you fight humans, elves or dwarves (not sure how it reacts to orcs and vikings). When it reaches 100 it becomes light, when it reaches 0 it becomes dark. If memory serves, this continues with the new version, so if you kill many undeads with the sword of darkness it goes neutral/equilibrium again.
Light: +10 Att during the day, +7 in the evening and +5 at night, -20% Def for undead, demon, orcs, lizardmen
Dark: +10 Att at night, +7 in the evening and +5 during the day, +20% Def for undead, demon, orcs, lizardmen
Or something along those lines.
Given how many undead you fight (including the final battles), Light is not only the easier option, but also the better. Darkness is only interesting if you want to play with a demon or undead army.
Edit: Just got the sword of light ingame, it has been changed slightly. the def effect also applies to lizardmen and orcs now. Presumably this goes for morale change aswell, so its the same good/evil split as Power of Light / Power of Night.
