It is! The flying pencil is his own personal marking, no other planes have it except for his planes, he used that even on his 109's later on.
This could be the day he crash landed after he shot down three spitfires on the same sortie. Quite a feat for someone who had already lost an eye. Though I think he only got the flying pencil emblem after that occasion... I'm not sure. Thank you for posting this! |
Upon a little research, I found out the picture is indeed of Specht's plane, but at the time of the picture it was being piloted by Rüdiger Proske, and on that day he was shot down over england, being captured as a POW.
He inherited the plane because Specht was wounded. |
