Link to SimHQ interview

Quote:

Erik: Will pilots be able to experience the fight from inside a cockpit? If so, will the gauges be accurate?

Anton: The game will feature the third-person camera view as the main one. Besides, players will be able to switch to a sniper mode that will in some way resemble the cockpit view, but it will be used to increase the accuracy of fire, not just to show how operating of the plane looks like from inside of the cabin. Although there won’t be a cockpit view, the user interface (UI) will have a universal set of essential cockpit flight instruments: a combined display for horizon and turn indicators, airspeed indicator, radio and barometric altimeter, etc.
I don't think this is a 'sim'..

That interview is about World of Warplanes, which is not the same game as War Thunder.

World of Warplanes is gonna be much more arcade, no doubt.

Your talking about 2 different games by 2 different developers.

World of warplanes by Wargaming.net

World of planes by Gaijin

Gaijins take is a slightly dumbed down sim with accessibility for arcade type players and sim players alike, set in a MMO type world. (this video was of this game)

The one that Outerbeacon is referring to is all arcade MMO with absolutely no simulation aspects.

I'm personally really looking forward to seeing Gaijins war thunder - world of planes!

Ah ok. Thanks for setting that straight for me guys. Sorry for any confusion.

Looks like a rock solid flight sim -x (arcade value) experience. x will most likely be bigger than in CloD but I'm pretty sure they won't mess this up like Maddox Games. Before I waste my money on an 1C product again that isn't playable to be money's worth, I'll give Gaijin a try.

Certain aspects of the graphics seemed impressive - the terrain/vegetation, the heavy ocean swells, etc. The aircraft and crew looked good from certain angles, too. The overhead close-ups of the landing craft looked a little weird -- as if they were floating above the water, but with spray coming off the hulls. Framerates looked very smooth.

I think also once out it will be merged at some point with world of tanks too

Yup slightly confusing....

World of Warplanes = World of Tanks
War Thunder: World of Planes = Wings of Prey

World of Warplanes = very very arcadish
World of Planes = varying degrees of arcade and sim options to choose from

The telescopic sights at 5:52 look very nice.
