Hello to everyone,

As for the new ideas, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in some “creative” Battle for Reichstag. I guess everyone can read about it online or otherwise so let's skip the details about the battle. It was a fierce battle because of defender's heavy entrenchments, so if VVS (Soviet Air Force) can soften up those pockets of resistance then the Soviet 3rd Shock Army that crossed the Moltke bridge (on April 30th 1945) would have an easier job to do. Here is how the game could be designed.

In strike mode on Berlin map both teams appear (spawn) pretty much equidistant to Berlin and there is no need for elaborate reform/regroup so VVS can just go straight ahead for the Reichstag while Luftwaffe tries to prevent them. Perhaps, another layer of complexity could and should be added. After successful strike VVS should attempt to land on Tempelhof and the winner is the one who manages to do that.

Mode: Simulator

Time: March 2011 at 10:00 pm. GMT (or earlier)

Mission: Strike

Year: 1945

Ammo: Limited

Fuel: Unlimited (Beware of overheating engine on WEP).

Map: No map to be used, except for forming up and scrambling in the start of the mission.

Hud: Disabled/your preference

Each pilot has one life only. (Embrace it!)
If shot down or crashed leave the game or go to the Tempelhof airfield and approach it from the south (in a big loop to avoid battle field) with landing gear extended during flight. In any case please report your status to the game host in a chat room.

Number of pilots: 14-16.

Task VVS: Ground attack on positions around Reichstag.
Bombers: IL-4, Sturmoviks
Fightercover: La-7, La-5FN, Polikarpovs, etc.

Form up after the start of the game and head straight to the target.

Task German airforce: Prevent VVS from dropping ordinance on positions around Reichstag and prevent them from landing on Tempelhof.
Fighters: Everything that's left of Luftwafe.

Form up after the start of the game and head straight to the VVS.

All pilots have to enlist up front and will be called for duty by an invite to text-chat before the mission is launched.*

All VVS pilots to make it back to the Tempelhof airfield alive is a winner.

Aprox time for mission: don't know but I'll try it and report back.

If the game goes fast we could switch sides and play again :-)

Perhaps Sturmoviks can stay behind defending the airfield until IL-4 and fighters come back? Your thoughts?

I'm glad you are interested, welcome to the mission Olife, and thank you for the kind words! I don't think we ever met online most likely due to time zone difference and these planned missions are great way to meet new people. What is your preferred “bird”/team?

OK then, this is the list so far:

McQ59,

Chowbird2,

Olife,

PlaviKit,

in no specific order :)

Hi Plavikit, I suppose since it's a one life ride I should take the tank,.....but let's live on the edge...I'll take the BF express to the sidelines. :) (As always I'll fly whatever is needed to balance things out) Thx for including me.

Hey Chowbird2, I'm not sure about “one life thing”. If I'm not mistaken McQ59 suggested the possibility of changing that. We'll see how everyone feels about that. We could make it two or more especially if we are short in numbers.

Take care,

With ya 100%

Sad to say I can't take part in this mission on saturday. I'm attending a concert with one of my favourit bands. But if I'm in flyable shape when I come home I'll have a few late night missions.
