ATI 5870 cannot force AA

I remember a while ago I used to be able to happily force AA and the game looked and ran great

Been away a while and loaded up IL2 again but now when I try and force AA using either ATI Tray tools or RadeonPro all I get is a black screen.

Unfortunately forcing AA through Catalyst Control panel has no effect at all.

I'm running 4.11.1 and the current 13.1 ATI drivers. (Ideally don't want to roll back to a previous driver due to other games)

Is there a solution? Maybe drop an older atiogl.dll in the game folder? <- if so does anyone know of where I can find a working dll ?
