game will not start any more (Solved)
Well I updated and then nothing,
so I veryfied game files and nothing. so I deinstalled and re installed and nothing. Then updated again and well nothing. i've read that you can remove sli i'M NOT USING IT ONLY ONE CARD . I've been told that you can deactivate anyhow but there is no mention in my Nvidia driver of SLI anywhere. Anybody know the solution? cheers, Niels Last edited by NLS61; 10-05-2012 at 02:58 PM. Make sure you installed correctly- do not use winzip, use winrar or 7-zip.
You can also unblock files in properties iirc if you do wish to use winzip.

MadTommy I'm not using SLI i've got one card and cannot find (in my nvidia driver screen ) a choice to disable it.
I know where to find it so where it should be but it isnt there. I don't really follow these two lines? Are you using SLI? If so... The RC patch simply does not work with SLI. So you have a choice, disable SLI and use the new patch or keep SLI and don't use the new patch. So this was known already. I too have a problem with the game starting after patching.
1.05 works fine.I have not tried any betas until now. I have downloaded the patch twice.Once from the torrent and another from a direct link. I have used Winrar and 7zip.I have extracted to both a separate folder and copied and pasted and also direct extraction to the IL2 folder.I have let it overwrite everything. I have deleted the contents of the cache folder. Everytime when I click on the launcher.exe(in the IL2 folder.I also have "run as administrator" checked)) I get a Windows message that the launcher has stopped working.I never get to the orange reticle.It worked fine with 1.05. I am running W7 64 bit and an ATI 6850. Like I said I have been running the last official version with no problem and this is my first attempt at a RC(beta) patch.It looks like I will wait for the official Steam release.

Update.
I got it working.As usual it was pilot error. I had been deleting the parts folder before extracting or copying and pasting the patch.Apparently the parts folder in the patch does not have everything the parts folder of version 1.05 has.This was causing the "launcher has stopped working" message.When I just overwrote the whole folder it worked.What fooled me was originally when I extracted it asked if I wanted to overwrite and I said yes.Apparently there are some files that are the in both folders but the original has the necessary start files. Now to figure out how to load the lasers and smoke.

Antivirus or UAC problem maybe?
Or aero? Disable desktop composition in Launcher.exe properties.

Maybe a problem with the conf.ini
Go to the folder "..Steam\SteamApps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" there you will find the orginal conf.ini copy this into your "..Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder. This helped a sqadmate with the same problems.
