Default PC Hanging on exit from game

Hi All,

This is a bit of a peculiar problem. The game plays beautifully - well done

Once I have been playing for a significant length of time (this issue doesn't happen after playing for 2 minutes) when I exit IL2 back to windows I am left with a white steam window and the circular egg timer.

Steam.exe is hanging and so is Explorer.exe. I can launch task manager and go to the processes tab but neither respond to being killed (every other process is killable). The only thing I can do is turn off my PC the bad way... not good.

I have tried a few "Run as Administrator" type changes but none have helped it seems.

Has anyone else had this issue?
Can anyone give me any diagnostic tests to do?

Drivers etc are up to date.

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Intel i7 2600k @ 3.4ghz
AMD RADEON™ HD6950
16GB RAM
Intel SSD OS Drive

Please help!

I have had Steam get stuck when my internet connection has dropped and steam is trying to update what you have just done flying. Maybe try without your firewall running.

I have heard some people having hangs with SSD drives, check your firmware is the latest or try on a normal disk.

Good luck James

This doesn't seem to occur with any other Steam games after playing for large amounts of time.

I will try to have a look to see if the net connection has dropped next time it does it (if I can).

I will also check the SSD firmware, again, this doesn't happen with any other games or software so it would seem weird to have an issue exiting one specific game. I don't have an option to try it on a normal disk.

Cheers for the thoughts, Matt. I will post back with progress.

Any other thoughts would be welcomed in the mean time.

Cheers,
James

Some people have mentioned about a memory leak which might mean the lock up would happen after some time, just a thought
