Loading game crash

Im midway through my russian factory mission, but everytime I load any of my saved games, the red loading bar reaches the top, dissapears when finished and then the game locks up. I can hear the music, but everything else is frozen.

Its like the game is on pause execpt its not. Is this a common issue? Or am I doing something wrong? when I crt-alt-del it says the game is not responding.
