Default Best offroad 4x4 vehicles of all time

Just wondering what vehicles you people think are the best offroad vehicles of all time?

Personally I think the Toyota Landcruiser 70 and 100 series are the best practical all round offroader with decent road manners and argornomics(?).

I think the UAZ's are also quite capable offroad vehicles

how did you miss the landcruiser 80 series in that equasion?

Was the toughest landcruiser of them all and came with the 1hdt diesel motor which ruled the market for manny years.

The 70 series? dont you mean the 75 series? this was a very solid truck but suffered greatly because of its narrow wheel base and rough leaf suspension which really underperformed.

This would be my list based on reliabillity, performance, toughness and looks.

1. GQ patrol wagon or ute, 4.5 TD42 TD
2. 80 Series landcruiser 4.2 1HDT
3. GU nissan Patrol, 4.5 TD42 or RD28/ 3ltr
4. Toyota hilux 1985 through to 1996 when they went from leaf suspension
to IFS.
5. Landrover defender
6. Jeep JK, Wrangler ect
7. Unimog

And thats about it.

Thought so,

The reason nissan is at the top is because of its toughness.

It has the strongest driveline of all trucks and the biggest chassy. The Y60 GQ patrol actually uses a Truck box, diffs, driveline to give it the most reliabillity out of them all.

I have also owned most of the trucks above and now a nissan and can say it is by far the toughest most capable reliable 4wd of them all.

Even the 80 series landcruiser uses a small hilux rear diff in the front of the wagon for some reason which is one of the letdowns of the mighty 80 series landcruiser.

Interesting information, would love if you could compare the defender - cruiser - patrol - g wagon and possibly uaz 469, would be grately appreciated.
btw in terms of comfort, maintainace(simplicity-mechanical knowlegde needed - repair cost), durability, running cost, off road ability when stock
I'm not a fan of nissan so I never have a clue about that info.

I think you guys forgot the Suzuki Samurai. This is a tough little truck that is the most capable of all trucks you guys noticed.. It's also the one that is the easiest to rebuild. It isn't the strongest but it has decent parts for a real fair price. Especially already used parts. It's the shortest one with the less weight.
Check these following 4 videos of these Suzuki Samurais. I can't believe you guys just forgot about the Samurai. I know people think it's just a 'Samurai' but you'll be suprised of howmuch they can do!

yeah forgot about the suzuki. I was only thinking about big boys toys

Yeah i know they are capable but i wouldnt take one out bush too far away from help by myself.

Parts are too week especially when you run bigger tires and have a heavy foot.
