Black screen on load game

Every time I load a saved game I get a black screen. I can see the HUD, but nothing else. I am using Vista 64 and an ATI 4850 with Catalyst 9.7. Any ideas?

Running in DX10 mode fixed the problem. Gas effects are a real performance killer now though...
