Question 4.09 and Linux

Hoping someone can help out here.

Our squad is looking to get a server up and running but of all the server companies we have approached they are all now linux based. Which means they cannot host 1946.

Is there a way around this?

Cheers

I did it this way:

- set up a complete 4.09m dedicated server on Windows
- run it to test functionality
- make a rar or zip of the install dir

- on linux install wine and set it up
- copy the rar/zip to the linux host and unpack
- start the il2server.exe and connect

If you are only going to host dogfight server with "il2server.exe" then get yourself a Windows VPS (Virtual Private Server) about $40/$50 per month.

It is working for me. It will not host a coop mission as insufficient graphics.

Need more info? Contact me either PM or email.
