Nice. I hope the Mosquito gets as much coverage on our TV News when it flies again.

Currently there are four Mosquitoes under restoration in New Zealand, two to be static in Museums and two to airworthy.

Static restorations;
- T-43, NZ2305 (A52-19/A52-1053) at MOTAT in Auckland.
- FB.VI, NZ2383 (HR339) at Ferrymead in Christchurch.

Airworthy restorations;
- T-43, NZ2308 (A52-20/A52-1054), under restoration by Glynn Powell for Glynn Powell.
- FB.26, KA114 under restoration at Avspecs, Auckland for Jerry Yagen.

There is also FB.VI NZ2336 (TE910) stored in time capsule condition with John Smith in Mapua.

So is this the only IL-2 still flying? I know that I've never seen one in the States, but I figured with something like 38,000 built there must be a few flying in Europe someplace. If this really is the last one, then no wonder these folks were willing to put so much work and love into the project.

View from a helmet cam! That stick looks awesome. It sounds like there are a few projects to restore more of these. Hope to see more flying.

On a similar note, here in Aussieland...

Some volunteers in Caboolture, Qld, are in the process of restoring a Bristol Beaufort MkVII to airworthy condition. It carries the serial A9-141, registration VH-KTW and will, like the IL-2 above, be the only flying example of a Beaufort bomber in the world. Quite an achievement, and I'll be following this one to see what happens.

Tally-ho,
Scott.
