How would you think a fighter should be salvaged....?
Yes, its eastern front footage, but i've never seen a 109 treated like this before.
Rather surprised. Towards the end, nice general footage at the start, JG54. Last edited by engarde; 12-06-2010 at 06:29 AM. Reason: Clarifying. |

Seems to be a rough plane.
On the other hand this was probably the fastest and simplest solution to get the aircraft back home. It very like was damaged enough already when emergency landing, so it would have to be overhauled anyway. A very nice footage! Horrido JG54! |

well for me its more about what we do today. At the end of ww2 German planes and spareparts was thrown into a hole at a Danish airbase. They have found it now, but last information about it is they will dig it up and throw it out, before letting anyone look at it and se if something is worth salvaging.....its sad...
I have been thinking on going there in the dark and se if i can save a guage or two.... LTbear |

Engine rebuild for sure on that, the crank damage alone will warrant a engine strip down.
Airframe probably too, recovered for spares more likely. |
