Hey guys, Fishyyy here. You know, the IL-2 1946 YouTube guy. I made the memorial video for Monguse, for example. I am pretty sure what I'm going to ask is never going to happen, but I'm still going to ask. DarkenedFantasies and I have been developing a mod for 1946, which overhauls the AI and adds a ton of FMB functionality. We are able to now accurately depict various types of missions, including Eighth Air Force missions, for example. Darky increased the maximum flight size from 4 to 24 and added various mission making things, which enable the AI to do all parts of a mission. They automatically taxi to takeoff using airfield nodes, there is a safe way to let them assemble into all kinds of formations, (Combat Box, Staffelkeil ... or even "none" i.e. bomber stream) we can even have them assemble and disassemble into the so called "Combat Wing" 60 aircraft formation. Disassembling those formations in an organized manner has also been added. The mod overhauls pretty much every aspect of mission making with AI. Honestly, for immersive missions and for video production, I will never go without it anymore. I don't want to brag, or come of as arrogant, but the vanilla FMB is simply outdated in comparison. Is there a way to incorporate such an AI mod into the official game? Whome would one have to talk to? Or would you make Darky a part of Team Daidalos? Do you have an AI guy at the moment? We can improve this game very much and basically just need the opportunity! Here's an example of the new FMB features: |

interesting video. Indeed such features would widen the scope of the FMB. The current situation of other DT members is unknown to me. Main programmer yt2 is lost on aviaskins dealing with possibile improvements of the map engine but I have no idea if there are plans for a new patch. I will try to contact Sita and see what can be done. I cannot make promises though.

Hi Fishyyy,
I have yet to hear any news from yt2, but other DT programmer Catsy is interested to check the code. IIRC he made triggers for HSFX and has a new, much improved version of these ready for a new patch. Of course this might conflict with zonk routines and both modifications would need careful integration. Catsy will contact you if it sounds good to you... Just to let know, only yt2 has full access to the sources (I never had in several years). Final integration is in yt2 hands, if he pops up at some point.
