Did I read correctly that 1C was going to be producing the sequel to Majesty?

Not exactly.
Majesty 2 is now being developed by 1C's internal studio 1C:Ino-Co, you can read about this here:

And that's not correct enough! Ino-Co is the subsidiary production unit of the 1C Company, but not the internal studio at all
