Salute everybody!
Our virtual brother-in-arms (Sergey Yasinov - you may remember him by his nicknames – Black Adder and Balu with Red Rodgers) has serious problems with his daughter’s health. The diagnosis is very unconsoling –4-year-old Yana has an aplastic anemia – a disease characterized by depressed blood formation. To survive, she desperately needs donor blood or money to buy it. The girl has been having in-patient treatment since February 2012, and all this time her parents must be on duty in shifts (which is even harder considering there is a second child – 2 yrs old).
There are two ways to conduct the treatment:
1. A medication called ATGAM (anti-T lymphocyte immunoglobulin) kills the malfunctioning bone marrow after which the marrow should – hopefully - be restored with powerful immunoglobulin-containing drugs. There’s a chance that the new marrow will have normal properties.
2. Bone marrow transplantation.
The first course of ATGAM didn’t help them, now’s the time to try the second one. It all takes long time (around four months per course). There’s a 50% of recovery chance after each course. There’s also a continuous need in blood. More than 100 Russian virtual pilots managed to give their blood during the previous 7 months but – unfortunately – there’s nothing left of it now.
To make things even worse, his wife was unfairly deprived of her sick-leave money and now the family (suddenly unemployed) is on the verge of physical, psychological, and financial exhaustion.
Apparently, giving blood from abroad is not an option but we can at least try to support the family of our fellow virtual pilot. Unfortunately, today there’s only one way to transfer money to Sergey Yasinov which is his moneybookers (skrill) account. It’s still either impossible to withdraw money from Paypal in Russia or the transaction is too complicated and some part of the charity money can be lost in fees, etc.
So, good sirs, even a small contribution can be crucial to save the life of Yana and support the family of our brother-in-arms.
