No for splashscreens (sorry, if you don't like them - I know, they are 'special' and doesn't meet everyones taste... but still it was all the same one since PF before), but GUI background was planed to stay user editable. Not sure, why it doesn't work anymore.

Yes I was talking about the main splash screen .. I like the ones you guys have.. it would just be nice to be able to add a few of my own in there as well.. it would be a nice touch.. and it is definitely better than the old one by a mile. haven't tried to change the mission one yet..

FWIW, I like the starting splash screens. I like to think that it's pictures from fighter/attack pilot Valhalla.

It does work, it took me a while to figure out how: we now need to change our custom .mat file name to match this schema:
missions/wide_background_en.mat (for widescreen)
missions/background_en.mat (for 4/3)

en/jp/de... is the gui country you choose in the setup menu, so you can create different .mat files, one for each option. Inside the .mat files you can link to any .tga file you like.

Correct! Sorry, I wasn't aware of the right naming myself. Thanks!

I really like the splash screen, especially the random change of the two aircraft depicted.

The main menu splash screen showing the pilot, mechanic and 2 AC in hanger is also well done, albeit static.

They are both well done and puts a little reminder that those incredible flying machines are nothing without the human pilot in the cockpit.

There are 4 different screens for this page and the option to make those 4 screens show randomly.

Click on the Setup button
When the Setup page opens Click on the Misc Settings button
When the Misc Settings page opens Click on the User Interface button
When the User Interface page opens look for the Background Image switch on the right side of the page. There will be 5 Background image options available for you to pick.
  • en - English (default)
  • ru - Russian
  • de - German
  • jp - Japanese
  • rnd - Random
If you chose the Random option the sim will chose one of the 4 country options at Random each time you start up the sim.
