IDK what all you wanna know about the Weapons in this game but for required ammo it is:

SMGs(MP44, PPsH, PPS43, Thompson and the like) all take Pistol ammo which is the yellow box of ammo in the inventory. Pistols to take Pistol Ammo.

Rifles, im sure that is easy to determine which are Rifles (M1 Garand, Mauser, Mosin and Snipers) All take the Rifle Ammo, that is obvious though.

Machineguns (BAR, MG34/42, DP,Dt, 50 and 30 cals, Bren) all take the MG rounds which is the Green box with ammo sticking out of it. The 50 Cal and DsHK both take "Heavy Machinegun Rounds" which are in a large 2x2 blue box and has bullets sticking out of it in the picture. They are rather rare and you dont get many of them in game.

20mm on the 232 and 222 take 20mm Zenite ammo. They are some weird looking yellow and silvery clip in the inventory.

Tank guns are pretty easy. You look at the tank and its Gun size and find corresponding ammo that matches its milimeter....KwK43 88mm gun takes 88mm Rounds. This game is pretty basic with its ammo types.
