Default Seafire F.XVII SX336

Seafire F.XVII SX336

Manufacturer: Supermarine
Type: Seafire Mk XVII
Airshow/Museum: 2007 - Flying Legends
Owner: Tim Manna
Country: United Kingdom
Registration: SX336/G-KASX

Available here:Flying-Legends

And Here:Mission4Today

After a long restoration, Seafire Mk.XVII SX336 (G-KASX) flew for the first time in over 40 years on 3rd May 2006 at North Weald. The date was the 60th anniversary of the aircraft's first flight in 1946, and the pilot that time - Tommy Thomson - was there to watch Pete Kynsey take to the air. Recovered from a scrapyard in 1973 after lying derelict, this is now the only Mk.17 Seafire flying.

This skin is for the above mentioned aircraft and though we don't have a Mk.XVII Seafire in the game I decided to "hack" the Seafire we do have to look a bit more like the Mk.XVII.
One of the differences in how it looks physically is that the real plane (having a Griffon engine) has distinctive raised elongated bulges just above the overhead valves which I have tried to fake onto the actual skin. The real plane also has a bubble canopy which I have also tried to fake onto the skin - it's not perfect as it's just not possible but from the right angle it works well enough.
I have also included a version with standard cockpit for those that don't like the faked cockpit.

Marked and un-marked versions of both are included.

Stick these in both of your "Seafire" skin folders and you are ready to go.

Template created by "Fly By Shooter" with elements from "Jesters Ink" and Myself. original template was made for the MKVIII Spitfire so I have now adapted this to fit the Seafire and added my own faked parts, panel lines, some internals and weathering to it.

Nice job! Reminds me of the early RLM 70/65 two tone patern of the BoB 109 Emil's...
