BRS-132 vs ships (bug?)
One thing that always bothered me it that BRS-132 rockets seem to do no damage against ships. It does not matter how many times I hit a transport ship with them, it never shows any damage. RS-132s, on the other hand, can kill a transport ship in a few hits.
In earlier versions, like 4.06, BRS rockets were more effective against ships than RSs. They are even part of the standard loadout for one the single missions that come with the game (IL2 N7), where you attack a convoy of several warships. So, is this a bug, or BRS-132 really shouldn't be effective against ships? |

BRS132 are armor piercing rockets, so probably little high explosive charge, penetrates deeply into ship and explodes inside?

But does that make them more or less effective against ships? I believe that, in the worst case, they should be able to at least do some damage, rather than being completely ineffective as they are now.

The BRS-132 (or BRS-82) should be all but ineffective against targets as large as a ship. They are armored-piercing versions of the RS-132 and -82, for use against tanks and other ground armored vehicles. Hence little or no HE filler. Punching tiny holes (82mm and 132mm holes) into ships isn't going to do much...
Heck, RS-132s fired from a single aircraft shouldn't be sinking ships, either. Unless there are multiple aircraft making runs on a single ship, starting fires, and there being no DC parties on board to fight them. |
