Default Bomber Boys Revealed

A superb programme on channel 5 tonight, im watching it now.

Has anyone else been watching and what do you think? Its great to see a programme all about bomber command and the valiant work and effort they did. Some of the footage is rather disturbing though. The survivor accounts are incredible though.

As for the Germans... the treatment they gave the "terror boys" was disgusting.

A superb documentary. If anyone can catch it then you should

Couldn't agree more Foz. Thought it both insightful as well as harrowing in places. Great footage and testaments from the chaps themselves. There's not much Channel 5 do that I can honestly say I like but hats off to them for this one.

I agree thought the program was compelling was says to Julie it must have been terrifying.

Although i would say all treatment by the Germans was completely bad, certainly the Gestapo and SS was .....words cant really describe how they treated prisoners, trk would moderate my post. But the treatment of our boys by the Luftwaffe was, as far as pow's goes exemplary and i take my hats off to them for honoring there foe's in such a humane way.

Linkage .......

Your right, the Luftwaffe took great care of our lads. Sort of like looking out for your own. They were all flyers and respected each other. Kudos to the Luftwaffe guys.

The ss and Gestapo though.... What pieces of work.

Lest we forget.

Default Guy Gibson.

Hey FOz, I've recorded the programme & will catch it later.
Did you read the other week that some old official MOD documents have been released that show Guy Gibson was shot down by the tail gunner of a Lancaster he was following home?
Apparently Mossies were often mistaken for Junkers 88's & this happened more than once.
The tailgunner was named(don't know why?) & lived with the secret till he passed away.
Bader was shot down by blue on blue too I believe .

(Probably a Hurricane pilot! )

+ 1 Scotty

I have just returned from visiting Auschwitz Concentration Camp, take it from me.... treatment and blame..... ? No contest.... Inhuman.

Some people should learn to open thier eyes before they even try to justify their logic on others .

I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about Bomber Command and the campaign which practically annihilated all major German civil centers. Could you tell me what role the SS and the London Blitz played in that? (Apart from being the cause of it, naturally)

Since you seem more interested in being "right on the internet" than viewing history in it's proper context and learning something about why people who lose 75% of their infrastructure (In not just one town but every single major town in their nation) aren't nice to shot down bomber crews I'll leave you to it.
