Default Playing in 16:9?

I don't know why, but even if the game does let me use 16:9 resolutions the game itself keeps working on a 4:3 aspect ratio, meaning that I see two vertical bars on the right and left side of the screen.
The game itself is running at 16:9 however, because I can move the cursor over the black bars, but nothing is rendered there except the army badges if I rotate the battlefield.

Anyone has a clue on what's going on? It's the Steam version and the demo used to take the whole screen, I also have a ATI graphics cards if that matters.

I'm running a widescreen monitor and ATI card and everything works fine here. If you haven't already, I would update your graphics drivers. I'm not on the latest myself, but I am using the 9.6 catalyst drivers and they work well. Also are you running any other 3rd party graphics card software? That could be interfering with the 16:9 option.

My drivers are updated as far as I can tell, I'm not running any software that could be interfering so I'm really clueless on this one

I'm having the same problem, and some people on the Steam forums are having it also. I'm using nVidia 8800GT (with Benq 24" 1920x1080 via DVI) so it's not an ATI problem.

Actually, the game is not running in 4:3, at least not for me. It's much wider but not 16:9 full screen either.

Since no-one seems to know any solution, I've contacted 1C support.. we'll see if they have any suggestions. Maybe we need to wait for a patch.

I think it's 16:10 actually, which is somewhat common among computer screens
I noticed that the game.ini file has two settings called
setf ~aspectratiox 0 and setf ~aspectratioy 0

I tried changing them to 16 and 9 but it doesn't work

Actually 16:9 is one thing and 16:10 is another. 16:9 is becoming more and more common in computer screens also. I just bought this new LCD and there wasn't many 16:10 LCD's available in the 23-24" range.

For example:
1920x1200=16:10
1920x1080=16:9

1680x1050=16:10
1600x900=16:9

etc..

All the 16:10 resolutions seem to work properly. None of the 16:9 resolutions work, they all have black bars.

Also got a reply from the support and seems like there is no solution at this point. Mm.. it's annoying to have those black bars but the picture is blurry when not using the native resolution. So I think I'll play something else until a patch comes out or something.

And yeah I tried those things in the .ini too.

That's what I meant, the game can handle 16:10, but not 16:9, however you can select 16:9 resolutions but the game will act like it's 16:10, hence the bars.
At least I think

Ah yes. It might actually be 16:10. Let's hope we get a fix for the 16:9 resolutions.

I still don't understand why the demo used to work on real 16:9 though, it feels really weird
