Question Engine starters and button boxes?

Hello

I'm wondering if it's possible to build a button/switch box that has a button/switch for each engine, up to 4 (or more but I don't think you need more than 4 in Il2 1946?) so that I just can press a button/flick a switch to start each engine individually (as you have to most multi-engined aircraft) and then press/flick another button/switch to select all engines so that I can throttle up?

Currently I find on multi-engined aircraft (such as the P38 and Mosquito) that I have to select each engine using a key on my keyboard and then press my starter button - one button/switch that does both of those functions would be better.

Also on the same box I'd like to incorporate some flaps control (because I've run out of buttons/hat switches on my flights stick and I'm fed up with reaching for my keyboard for trim controls so I'd like to move them to where I have my flaps set to on my stick (the hat switch), I'm guessing the easiest way is a pair of buttons, one for flaps up and one for flaps down, but would it be possible to make a lever?

If so, would anyone be able to point me in the direction of a tutorial for doing so (I'm a complete novice when it comes to electronics, but I've heard of Leo Bodnar so I'm guessing parts would be sourced from him)?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, if you look here http://web.archive.org/web/200703011...3821084134/p/1 there is lots of info, however some links and pictures dont work.
this forum http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph...ntrollers.html and this forum http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph..._Builders.html have lots of stuff. It might be better and cheaper to modify and old usb joystick rather than use Leos board and have to buy lots of buttons and pots.

All this you plan is possibe (and some more ).

Get a BU0836A from Leo Bodnar - the version Bu0836X come with some easy conectors but cost about twice and have the same functions, since this kind of project require solder at all, I prefer the basic version.

A bit cheap alternative for USB controller with same functions (shipping include):

For trim get multiturn potentiomers or encoder.

For switchs you can use toggle (lever) type, lever momentary and momentary push button.
Find cheap in eBay from Hong Kong.

Basic requirements: know how do solder, know how differentiate + and - and some DIY skill.
