Default The release trailer and Microsoft Flight...

As there has been some criticism that they used a rather old beta build for the release trailer and no aa etc I feel I must defend it...

Has anyone else thought of the pun against the release trailer / teaser for Microsoft Flight with the Stearman soaring over the ocean heading towards land, and the almost identical opening of the CoD trailer with the Tiger Moth flying in exactly the same way with soft music in the sun set... And then the 109 zooms down and blows it to pieces I just love it. It's impossible that it is a coincidence

I guess it has already been discussed in some old thread as that video with the Moth is rather old...

Edit: added links for direct comparison

Microsoft Flight:

Cliffs of Dover:

The common opionion is that the Flight trailer is not ingame footage, as Flight is really FSX that has been tuned a bit seen in other movies like this which even has the FSX stuttering Have they done it on a "crap PC" or is it really that bad?

They sure have AA in their only real video (the first on is not ingame). In the only "real" one with ingame footage they have AA on but bad stuttering and rather crappy graphics as usual in FSX (watch the shadows and the prop animation) Updated my post above...

Talk about announcement by the way... It's due to be released Q1 according to major sites like gamespot but how much info is available? Those videos and some vague statement on the game site that is almost empty.

Gamespot info:

Flight site:

Anyone knows if their forums are also invaded by self-proclaimed marketing experts and doomsday prophets like ours here?

The only real problem I have with the release video is actually the ugly victory roll performed by the 109 after shooting down the Stearman... I mean Moth

He keeps the left rudder needed to do a clean roll from the first knife edge part of the roll while inverted and even on his way into the opposite knife edge with an ugly twist to the roll

There's enough room on my hard drive for both. I know which one I'll play more, but as a fan of FLIGHT SIMS I'll buy both.

Well you didnt have the videos up when I posted my first reply, but I really got to say that the quality of the video for COD was lacking. I am only commenting on these forums but I went to Steam forums to work out a problem with WOP:LW activation code for youplay and somene had a thread about COD up. They were taking alot of heat, it tbh looks lower quality then WOP which is a console port... Thats me saying it, but others are saying it too and unfortunetly the majority of their $ wont be from forum users here just due to the numbers game. If they want to sell a professionaly made product, they have to make it look professional (irrespective of our respect for the original IL2, that just doesnt cut it).

Sorry to be so pessimistic

i think console games dont have to worry to much about the physics...just nice eye candy, which makes for a more arcade type game, but hopefully they will bring a vid out with it on the highest settings

I hope so. Birds of prey the console game and Wings of prey the PC port both used a version of the IL2 flight model I believe. But with modern gpu's the flight modeling is seperate from the graphics (cpu vs gpu unless you have physx) so they should not affect each other that much.
