Default Well done Katauri - Could you also make Heroes 6 please?!?

I almost missed this game. Just got a hint in the Dominions 3 forums and tried the demo. And oh my, the game is such a gem. The music is so beautifull, it's almost on par with Paul Romeros and Rob Kings Heroes Music (mainly HoMM3) or even some of Jeremy Soules (The Demi God of music!!!) better scores. I wonder who's the composer of KB?
The games is also gorgeous to watch, although graphics aren't usually my main priorities (I play Dominions3!!!). However, for light strategy games like Heroes, they aren't unimportant. Actually, I was never able to like Heroes 4, which had surely something to do with the graphics.
The interface is also very nice and intuitive although the camera is quite clunky (Why can't I fix the vertical view axis and just turn left and right when hitting the borders like in NWN1?!?).
Anyway, to my big surprise you addressed the killer stacks problem with a very clever leadership system. You were also aware that a modern skill tree is more strategic and fun than the random and surprise skill system in the Heroes games. Further, I don't have to wait five minutes for the AI to decide that it is going to do absolute nothing like in Heroes 5 (Okay, granted that's because it's in real time...). However the battle AI, although not perfect, is also a lot better than in Homm5 (So far I haven't seen a group of Vampires that moved to the middle of the battle map and then stayed there peacefully until they are all shot down by archers).

So, in short words: You would be the perfect developers for HommVI! You have great music composers, very good graphic artists and programmers, good interface designers (except camera control) and *most important* you have some understanding of game mechanics since you adressed successfully some very old conceptual heroes problems. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the HeroesV creators...

I would be really great if you could do Heroes 6 after you've finished the KB expansion. There's so much potential. Make a big campaign for single player instead of the annoying level maps where the hero can decide for a town type during the game. It would be cool to clean an evil dungeon from a bunch of undead and then... just keep it - expand it - create more undead - create bigger undead - WORLD DOMINATION!!!

... Ahem, okay I got a bit carried away, but I think you got the idea .

I must say it would indeed be very nice if someone who has proven themselves as Katauri now has to do Heroes 6. It might actually help bring life back to the series. But though we may wish for it, it will never happen. On the brighter note, at least we don't have to wait six months just for it to be translated into our language

Well the rights for homm series got ubisoft and they decide who makes the game ... It's just your wish but it will not happen.
Second thing the Leadership system its not something Katauri invented, it was already in original King's Bounty years before homm I was released.

I liked HOMM5, but it is a linear joke compared to King's Bounty...

Also HOMM5 was totally ruined with randomized skill selection upon leveling up.

Yes if there werent those npcs which allows to unlearn skills it would really suck .. but they are there ;p i used it a lot in last campaign of "tribes of the east" to get absolute defense for Wulfstein or arcane omnisciensce for Zehir

Yeah this game is pretty damn amazing; I'm really happy they got rid of the massive amount of randomness that's in the HoMM series. Having a leveling tree is so much better than just a random choice each time you level and the magic runes system is really cool. I also like how the monsters "chase" you on the adventure map, so you can sneakily get around powerful monsters! I *WOULD* like to see more classes such as Thief or Bard.

I also really like the quests. They're pretty interesting, some are funny and I'm not really bored of them. I also like how some have "non-aggressive" solutions. All of these tournaments and trials you can do is neat as well as being able to upgrade your items by "fighting" the item I love it! If all that stuff was added to HoMM6, it'd be such an amazing game

Actualy cant agree with you that getting rid of randomness , its pretty much random : on level ups, on getting items, units avalaible, spells and so on ...
Level up randomness will be solved in sequel, rest is actualy good thats random ^^

It wasn't entirely random really. Certain hero classes tended to attract some skills more than others. It could be frustrating though if you wanted your wizard to specialise in spells of mass destruction but that option never appeared in your skill list.

They are very different games and I love then both. HOMM is more like a turn-based strategy game with some RPG elements. KB is a RPG game with great turn-base tactical battles. What they have in common is the similar tactical battle system.

I still play both games, but I play HOMM more frequently: it has more variety in gameplay (different races which play vary diferently), multiplayer (I mostly play it with my girlfriend), random map generator (which kinda sucks, but is better than nothing) and and (most important) hundreds of great user made maps and campaigns to play.

KB is one big (excelent) campaign. But once you finish it 2 or 3 times, it becomes kinda boring to do all over again, again and again, even if you are doing it just for the battles. Thats why I feel this game needs a map-editor and perhaps a more "open-ended" sytle of gameplay.
