Default Radeon 6970 CrossfireX requires restart

2 x HD6970 cards using cat 12.4 works pretty well except that any restart in-game results in greatly reduced performance. For example, if I land, escape and try any game without first exiting the entire application, my framerate drops from the 60-100+ range down to 30's (less over land).

MSI afterburner reports an across the board drop in performance... not a reversion to single GPU operation. CrossfireX is still working. It reminds me of some older apps that could actually run two programs at the same time. Could the first Quick Mission be failing to terminate before the restart?

It's a nuisance having to alt-x and restart the whole thing after each landing, crash or other terminal event. Any help?

It might be because when not in a game, the ATI cards throttle back to lower GPU and memory frequencies, to lower power consumption. You might want to reinstall your drivers.

Thanks to you all for your help. The release candidate has fixed all my problems mentioned in this thread. I highly recommend it.
