Default Slumped pilot & Gunner plus HE111 H-6 mg in tail cone

After reading 3/9/10 BOB update regarding the slupmed pilot & bomb aimer I then explored the config on 1946 & after switiching the gore on, the pilot of the HE111 now slumps when shot - never noticed that before & took ages to get a pilot kill rather than wing shot off before pilot was shot, etc.

However, pilots of other aircraft do not appear to slmp when killed - is this a feature of the HE111 only?

Also, the HE111 H-6, 1941 has an mg in the tailcone which I noticed on the external view was fired. who fires this mg & how & is it player fireable?

Dead pilots have always been slumped forwards in my IL2 with or without gore =1
But Gore =1 "Blood in pits" only works in Russian .exe not the European/US versions, unless you are using a Modified/hacked version.

Re the He 111 tail MG17, I've never seen 100% documentation to show who actually fired it, although I am leaning towards it being able to operated injunction with the top gunner and or separately by another crew member.

Will be interesting to see if anything comes to light here.

With gore=1 you get blood spatter in the He-111 and the U2VS:

I haven't seen this effect in other aircraft, but slumped gunners is common on many aircraft in game.

thanks for the replies.

I'm using an un-modded version of 1946.

I've never noticed slumped pilots/gunners before & as I'm in the UK I don't get blood splatters & it doesn't bother me if they are there or not as they don't seem that realistic.

With regards to the mg in the tail cone - it will be interesting to see what others come up with as to who fires it & how it was sighted, if at all.

Never liked it, too much blood, and it looks more like paint.

Agreed, looks like day glow paint applied by paint gun.

I have a program called IL2 Shturmovik Stab 6.3,and in one of the options there is "gore",but nothing new happens if enabled.
Also,I never saw the pilots laying on the plane like in the U-2.

Not all planes were given gore. It goes back to getting the game cleared for an 'everybody' rating.

Anyone fancy taking a shot (excuse the pun) as to who fired the mg in the tail cone of a HE111.

Was there some sort of gun sight so you could see what you were shooting at, such as a periscope, or was it just fired in the hope of hitting something.

I'm not entirely sure about this, since it's a fuzzy memory dating back to my primary school years of sneaking in the storage room and reading my fathers collection of WWII aviation and history books (like the Salamander encyclopedia of WWII aircraft, i still have that and it's great, tattered hardback covers and all) when i should be studying

In any case, i might have read in some book among those that the rear MG was probably fired by the pilot but it wasn't aimed, so it was mostly in an effort to scare a pursuing fighter that was attacking from dead six rather than score hits. Since the top turret gunner's field of fire probably doesn't extent that low, maybe he would tell the pilot over the intercom when to shoot?

I might be entirely wrong, after all the luftwaffe was famous for weird gun placement on their twins and the Ar234 Blitz bomber also had rear-firing armament that the pilot could not only fire, but also aim through a periscope sight. I'm sure others will shed more light on this.
