Battle of Lincoln- Getting up the stairs?

I don't know if I'm missing something really obvious, but does anybody know how to move units up the stairs of the castle, in the battle of Lincoln? This would obviously give an advantage for shooting down at the enemy. Fantastic game but this is driving me slightly crazy

You cannot go over the walls, because in this version of game the sieges are not implemented, from RW2 they will be actives.
