Army Red

Tuesday 13 August 1940.

6h00 in the morning.

Today, it seems that the Luftwaffe has decided to move on to a new stage in its offensive over England.

According to information from our Intelligence Services, it seems obvious that the Germans understood that any attempt at a maritime blockade was impossible for the Luftwaffe alone.

Our informants confirm that the German Luftwaffe High Command have decided to change strategy and launch massive raids against Fighter Command.

According to the first radar plots already received, it seems obvious that the final battle for the invasion of our homeland has just begun!

Many formations of German planes are currently gathering above France...

The first is regrouping above Wissant (CA.42) at very high altitude; probably a group of Do 17s from Kampfgeschwader II.

The second is maneuvering between Saint Omer (CK.39) and Calais (CE.44) at medium altitude; probably a group of Stukas from Lehrgeschwader 1.

All aircraft are ordered to......SCRAMBLE!!!

No 65, 604, 266, 603, 501, 72, 605 Squadrons must take off immediately!!!

Intercept all enemy aircraft before they can reach the coast.
Organize coastal patrols and interception raids over the Channel.

God save the King, England and our Empire!

Available aircraft:

Spitfire Ia, Spitfire Ia (100oct)

No 65 Squadron at Manston (BX 52).

No 266 Squadron at Eastchurch (BQ 53).

No 603 Squadron at Hornchurch (BH 56).

No 72 Squadron at Biggin Hill (BF 51).

Hurricanes I (DH5-20), Hurricanes (DH 5-20 100oct), Hurricanes I (Rotol),
Hurricanes I (Rotol 100oct)

No 501 Squadron at Kenley (BD 51).

No 605 at Croydon (BC 52).

No 604 at Canterbury (BU 50).

Beaufighters I-F

No 604 Squadron at Canterbury (BU 50).

The radar menu available on TAB 7 1 will give you the position of enemy aircraft relative to your position, if you are close enough.

Army Blue

Tuesday 13 August 1940.

6h00 in the morning.

Comrades: today Luftwaffe High Command has decided to launch our final assault on England!

Adlertag has arrived!

Be ready for the biggest air battle in history!

All aircraft available to the Luftwaffe must be ready to take off to attack England.

Our objective is to destroy the RAF, the last obstacle before the final assault.

We must force Fighter Command to send all their aircraft into battle. Then,
shoot them down and destroy all their infrastructure.

Our mission is to force the British to negotiate..... or capitulate!

Comrades: have a good flight and especially...... Good Hunting!

PRIORITY OBJECTIVES (Fighter pilots):

You must plan to escort the first two bomber raids of the day.

Rendezvous at 6h25 in the morning, with the first bomber group above Wissant (CA.42) at 7500 meters. These aircraft will be Do 17's from Kampfgeschwader II. Escort them over Kent until their return to France.

Rendezvous at 6h50 in the morning, with the second bomber group above Calais (CE.44) at 4000 meters. These aircraft will be Ju87 Stukas from Lehrgeschwader 1. Again, escort them over Kent and return with them to France.

If you fail to rendezvous with the bombers, they will be unescorted and vulnerable over England and you will be solely responsible for the fate of your comrades!

Organize close escort above the bombers! As Colonel Adolph Galland said it makes you 'a dog on a leash' but this is absolutely necessary!

Some fighter patrols will nevertheless be able to patrol above the bomber's objectives to deny the sky to defending RAF pilots.

Organize patrols from Littlestone (BS.45) to Ramsgate (BY.53) and to the south east suburbs of London. (BE.51)

SECONDARY OBJECTIVES (Bomber pilots):

Ashford Engine Oil Factory (BR.4

Mershant ships lying in Dover (BX.47) and Folkestone (BV.46) harbours.

Dover (BX.4 and Rye (BP.44) Radar Stations

Royal Navy ships entering the Thames Estuary. Sink them!

Available aircraft:

Bf 109 E1, E3, E4

II /JG 52 at Coquelles (CE 43).

I /JG 51 at Saint Iglevert (CD 42).

I /JG 26 at Audembert (CC 42).

II /JG 26 at Marquise (CC 41).

I /JG 53 at Sempy (CF 33).

Bf 110 C2, C4, C4B, C7

III /ZG 76 at Boulogne (CA 3.

Ju 87 B-2

IV.(St)/LG 1 at Oye Plage

The radar menu available on TAB 7 1 will give you the position of enemy aircraft relative to your position, if you are close enough.

The briefings provide specific details on objectives, available aircraft, and the overall context of the watermelon game mission. The emphasis on historical accuracy and coordination between different squadrons adds an immersive element to the event.
