Default Un Martini a Tobruk: Team Fusion #3 Server, Saturday, April 22: 1900 GMT

OK, everyone, sorry for the late announcement for tomorrow's event. We've done bit of last minute juggling; so....remember to take your favourite cocktail stirred, not shaken. This mission is back by popular demand, courtesy of our friend Pernix and his crew:

"Un Martini a Tobruk"

Briefings:

RED TEAM
ROYAL AIR FORCE BRIEFING

Date: 21 January 1941
Time: 07:30
Weather: Clear
Wind: 2 m / s from West

Battelfield Situation:
Our advance is now deep inside territories behind Tobruk, the XIII army corp has surrounded the city while the 17th Australian Brigade is preparing to advance. The plan is to attack the citys defensive installations from the South-East.
The 7th Brigade is waiting for the artillery to concentrate the fire on the port and the city to advance with Crusader and Matilda tanks.
The Italian garrison is made of 26000 men with armoured squads among them, however, the general morale is very low. If things will go as planned well have a chance to take important supply depots and the only real port of the region.
Despite the Italians situation, we must not underestimate our enemy! They are trapped inside the city and they could fight to the last men unless we overwhelmed them with our combined power of Army, Air Force and Navy.

Our airfields are very close to the fronts, almost inside the 40 miles range of the city, and so we should be able to obtain and maintain air superiority.
We finally have a very good number of Hurricanes and Wellingtons. Together with some new Spits and Kittyhawk.
Brand new Beaufigters have also just arrived at the frontline to reinforce our fighter-bomber squadrons.
Please take care of your machines since they are essential to the war effort!

BE ADVISED:
1) Every ground target must be identified before engaging it. All pilots must also take note of the following:
Our advance is going to the West, with the help of the Royal Navy, with the obj of taking the Bomba Bay.
Italians columns are retreating towards the West with our units in pursuit near the coast
All units inside Tobruk are to be considered an enemy. (the defence perimeter is recognisable).
2) Two Wellington Squadrons will take off from Amseat 2 (Sollum) to attack Tobruk and the Bomba Nord airfield, they will need an escort. Please Rendez-Vous with them over Bardia at angles 13. Youll be notified over the radio of the time of the Rendez-Vous.

N. 33 SQN

Planes: Hurricane IIc / Trop , Gladiator II /Trop
Airfield: Gambout 2

Your airport, even if with limited aeroplanes, is the most advanced. Therefore youll be the major unit to bring forward the offensive. Your job is to neutralize the already decimated enemy force around the city.
Takeoff and wait for orders from the command.
Your main objective will be to destroy the defensive and artillery positions so the Australian tanks will be able to pass.
All troops fortified in the town are valid targets!
Once youll drop your bombs you can choose between a CAP over the city or continuing strafing the grand targets available.
Be advised: Many Italians transport aircraft will try to land at Tobruk to bring supplies to the troops. They must be stopped!

N. 112 & N.33 SQNs

- N. 112 Sqn. - n. 33 Sqn.
Planes: Hurricane II-B / Trop, Spitfire Vb/Trop, Kittyhawk/Trop.
Airfield: Sidi-Azeiz

This base is in the middle of the desert and far from the front. But the new machines that have just arrived will be fundamental for our attack plan!
You have the fastest planes so youre objective will be to cover our advance towards Bomba bay.
Your patrol area is indeed far away so conserve your fuel and listen carefully to the ground controller indications to complete your objective.

N.14 & N.70 SQNs

Planes: Blenheim IV / Trop , Wellington 1a/Trop, Beaufighter 1c
Airfield: Anseat 2

You bomber boys must destroy the runways of Tobruk in order to stop the Italian air force from using them.
Use your Wellington bomb load to annihilate the enemy on the ground.
These are your Obj:
Bomba North on B4-8
Tobruk 2 on J10-6
Tobruk 3 on D10-3
Destroy them at all costs!

Notes:

This mission will be won by the first team that can complete his tactical Objective.
This is the text of his position intercepted by our secret services: ULTRA decipher - double 6,5 second letter 2,5x2 (convoy).

Our spies have told us that the Italians with the help of the Germans will supply the city of Tobruk via air. Their aircraft will probably come from Bomba north, you must stop them. New updates will follow during the mission so monitor your radios.

Our navy will attack Tobruk from the sea, you must protect our ships from any enemy vessels. Updates will follow from command over the radio

Our army will advance towards the west, remember to support it.

If you need to rearm, repair or refuel you can do it over any open airfield.

Our beacons will be on the following frequencies: Siwa 298 Khz; Bardia 299 Khz
Enemy ones will be on: Tobruk 301 Khz

God save the King!

BLUE TEAM
REGIA AERONAUTICA-X C.A.T. BRIEFING

Date: 21 January 1941
Time: 07:30
Weather: Clear
Wind: 2 m / s from West

Battelfield Situation:
Today Maresciallo Graziani has given the orders to resist and keep the city. Tobruk is now surrounded by British and Australian divisions. The XXII army corp has blown all bridges that lead to Derna and Bardia. All roads are blocked, more than 26000 men are our last resistance.
They will be our last stand with a defensive line that will go from Derna to Berta and Mechilli.
Inside Tobruk our armoured regiments are burying their tanks, we are also reinforcing the trenches but we have more than 50 km of front to protect and thats not an easy task!
Our artillery is unfortunately blocked by dust and sand blown by the wind and so their efficiency is minimal.
Our San Giorgio cruiser asked to engage the Royal Navy ships that are hitting the port for days but the commander deny the permission since he dont want to risk a hit on our troops morale if the ship will sink.
The British have the air supremacy, our air force can fly only recon flights if they succeed in taking off.
Our offensive actions can only be started far beyond the front.
However, the Germans of the XCAT have offered to help us considering our situation.
We can also count on our brand new Macchi 202 Serie III, that arrived from Italy.

BE ADVISED:
Every ground target must be identified before engaging it. All pilots must also take note of the following:
Almost all our armoured troops inside Tobruk are buried in the ground and the rest is retreating towards the west.
Protect a convoy of ships between Tobruk and Bomba at all costs we need those supplies
Please do CAP over the frontline to cover the retreat of our troops
