How good is the co-op/Multiplayer?

Sorry about posting in this forum but I thought I'd get a good answer.

I am trying to talk a friend into buying the game but he says on his laptop it crawled when he played the demo.
He'd have to install it on my second PC and play with me but we wanted to know if the co-op was worth playing.

If we played Multiplayer, can we set up an enemy and play on the same team like C&C Generals?

Oh, I got mine off Steam so he will too.
