Also the war museum. They have the fuselage of the Gladiator nicknamed "Faith" on display among other things.

The Lascaris War Rooms http://www.wirtartna.org/Default.aspx?tabid=2483 are atmospheric - if they're open, they were shut when we were last there.

The best read is Malta: The Thorn in Rommel's Side - Six Months That Turned the War by Laddie Lucas. You'll find it there in (expensive) bookshops if you don't have time to get it before you go.

Don't miss the stuff about the Great Siege in 1565 either, if you have time read Ernle Bradford's book The Great Siege: Malta, 1565. Also the prehistoric stone circles are awesome, visit Hagar Qim and Mnajdra.

Malta is a great place to go if you're interested in history.

Hello,

In 2010 i've held a vacation on Malta. The Lascaris War Rooms were open but they were restoring the plotting room at that time. Keep in mind that the entrance is found via the the Upper Barracca Gardens from Battery Street (Battery fires at noon a shot for time ref.) The tour bus of the north holds in sight of the battery while on the harbour side at noon, beware of weird faces when ur sprinting from the bus to make pictures and video of the shot and others just missed it...).

It costs about €15 pp (currently more?) to ride the sightbus. Every half an hour it comes by and you can hop on and off. Local busses are a treat..cheap and quite a ride....

Lots of traces of WW2 can be found, i recommend the reading about Pedestal etc before you go.

Default Where are the battle of britain Luftwaffe pilot's combat reports???

There are many raf fighter combat reports describing the interception of bombers and kills etc but where are the accounts from the german bomber crews and escorting fighters? I am very interested to read them.

Any help much appreciated.

Default Parachutists bail from a stalled aircraft as it spins earthward

Just found this video showing a group of Parachutes as they start to exit their aircraft. After the first leaves, the aircraft banks into a Spiral stall spin and cameras capture the view inside and outside as it heads earthward:

(Click on link above the video square to view the video)

Cheers, MP
