I have the same problem. I deleted the confuser.ini file, but the info boxes (3) were still there when I ran the sim again.

Did you guys try to alt-left click on them and then right click on the box to bring up the info box menu, with the option to delete them?

Ahh, dang it, should have read the OP's post better, seems you already tried that, but that is the "normal" procedure to delete them.

and the grey box buggered off

Down side , had to re-config everything

when u say delete the entire contents what r u referring to? the files in the My Documents folder because when I deleted those files then the game wouldn't run.

Go to
...\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover
there is a file called
confUser.ini
make a backup and then open it in an editor, scroll down to the
[ChatWindow] Section

Remove all entries located there.

To restore the orginal Info-Windows copy these lines to the end of the confuser.ini
Code:
[ChatWindow]
0:-1=-posSize '0.003 0.870 0.206 0.130' -titleStr "Motor Controls" -alpha 130 -ualpha 0 -wrap -history 100
0:262144=-lay 1 -fnt 0 -clr 0
1:-1=-posSize '0.818 0.543 0.181 0.145' -titleStr "Secondary Controls" -alpha 130 -ualpha 0 -history 10 -timeout 15

2:-1=-posSize '0.002 0.000 0.460 0.186' -titleStr "Info. Window 1" -alpha 130 -ualpha 25 -vscroll -wrap -history 100

Default I did all that, but Closing the window does nothing.

I saw this in a post below this one. Maybe you have more then one box? If I might ask, can you create another box and delete the new one, can you move the bad ones now? Also, which mouse are you hitting, I think there are two different funcions for alt L mouse and alt R mouse. make sure curser is clicked on the box before you try....I know, Im reaching lol

From Luther

5-A. Q: I did all that, but Closing the window does nothing.

A: We have as of now seen two users who created 52 and 82 overlayed info windows respectively. If you are closing a window and it does not disappear, it probably means that you have multiple Info windows stacked on top of each other. If you do not wish to manually close each window, you can edit them out of a config instead.
All the Info window settings are stored in the [ChatWindow] section of
(Documents)\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\confUser.ini
Our standard interface has 5 elements numbered 0 through 4 and titled "Motor Controls", "Secondary Controls", "Info. Window 1" (no title is shown for this one in game), "Voice", and "NetStats"
If your ChatWindow section looks to have a lot more than these 5 sections, simply delete everything past the lines numbered 4: and save the file.
