I'm new, a few questions
I am a Total War fanatic some may say, but what’s different is I don’t play the campaign games I simply play the online custom battles.
I am seriously considering getting the VIII Century and Real Warfare 1242. For starters can you play battles against each other online similar to TW? How many players can participate? Can someone post some screen shots for me? Thanks in advance |

Welcome.
Yes there is a multiplayer battles (custom battles) just like TW games, not sure how many can particpate, but its sure not less than 4 players, plus you can make an AI your ally also, custom battles, there are different maps just like TW, plus there is a map generator, which is something new. As Mr. Graham indicated you wheather you get XIII century or Real Warfare you can play multiplayer with any other person who has any of those games (Just you need to download the latest patch for any). For now most of time you wont find anyone in the lobby, but you can always find people ready for challenge in Xfire group, visit & join: http://www.xfire.com/communities/realwarfare1242/ The game is much more difficult than TW games, and need some patiency, any small mistake can lead to certain defeat, but this is what I like about the game its much more realistic, and focus on tactics and early planning. I will post some screeny as well. Regards |

The multiplayer battles are at maximum of 3vs3 but battle maps are bigger. As features you have:
a battle map generator (you can have each time a new map) a new battle type (the battlefield, where you have reinforcements and zone of control) a lobby with ladder included a powerful editor Download my guides and see some of my videos for have a idea of game. Unluckily online we are few because the game is still not much diffused that why we are using the xfire group for organize battles; there are also some russian players (normally between the 8:00-10:00 PM cet) but they are strong and many of them don't speak english so for a newbie can be hard. Is normal lost the first 10-15 battles in multi before understand the tactics and force rapports, especially against rus and arab armies. PS: I will not be online for play for some day, because my principal PC has a problem and I'm waiting the new component. I think i will be again online from tuesday or wesneday (hoping the power generator don't burn other components when collapsed ) |

Thanks for posting again and I want to play online. I just bought the VIII Century Gold Edition yesterday. I tried to play online but no luck. I posted in the technical part of the forum and hopefully I can get my answer to solve the problem.
I will have more questions coming down the pipe. |
