Unfortunately, our resources are limited and we sacrificed releasing a demo for more thorough testing and polishing of the game. -What problem did the developers run into and what was the reason for the constant release delays? In essence, there was one problem- the huge size of the game environment. During development, we encountered many technical difficulties which we did not foresee. Creating a virtual California at an almost true-to-life scale turned out to be anything but simple. -Why was the game not set in Russian territory? Why was America chosen as the game's location? Both Hard Truck 1 and 2 were set in Russia. This time we decided to show a different world. California is interesting in that the truck driver profession is very popular there, no less than in Russia. In addition, the endless diversity of roads on such a small territory was very attractive. We will undoubtedly return to Russia. The only thing is that we have so many different types of vehicles in Russia and the profession itself is very free-for-all. -We already know that there will be an addon and a mega pack. We know that the addon will feature Las Vegas... what about the mega pack? How will this mega pack be distributed? Can we count on having multiplayer? Can we expect a more hardcore simulator? We believe that Rig'n'Roll is hardcore in and of itself, especially on the highest difficulty setting. In addition, many aspects of the game were made to be simpler on purpose. The official site will be reworked and updated throughout this month. This will affect not only the visual appearance of the site, but it's content as well. Unfortunately, developing the game and updating the site simultaneously is very problematic. In the near future, we plan to update all the major sections of the official site. -What are your hopes for this game? Would you like to go beyond the Hard Truck series? It's not out of the question, but for now, we would like to work on something that we are good at and this happens to be quality simulators. -I understand that Russian game developers are as poor as children in Africa and cannot afford a newer graphics engine, but why do the physics look like they are from a game that's decades old? I really feel that you should wait until the game is released to form your conclusions. You can almost never tell what quality the game will be once released just by looking at the graphics. -Will the graphics be better than in the previous games in the series and which engine is used to render them? Yes, the graphics engine has been completely reworked since the last games in the series. The graphics engine is our own creation. 1) Will firetrucks and ambulances be added with the addon? 2) Is it possible to correct the pedestrian problems before the release? 3) There are rumors going around that there will be various secrets in the game. The game uses a huge variety of original compositions by American artists. -How do you plan to present the atmosphere and passion of American truckers? Is it possible for the engine to overheat? Creating the atmosphere was one of our top priorities. You will soon be able to see for yourself, how well we've completed that task. It is too early to talk about the next game. -I have some doubts... in the October 12th video is it still the beta version of the game/map being shown? Incomplete map? In the very early demo versions of the game, a small segment of the road network is shown. From Oxnard to San Diego. You can see the game map by going to the game's website. Wheel and pedals If you are referring to force feedback, the returning of the steering wheel to its starting position, and the use of the clutch pedal, then yes- all these features have been implemented and are very easy to adjust as the player prefers. For now, the game engine is too complex for those who are unfamiliar with programming. Will the fuel economy be affected by the RPM at which the player drives? Of course. Fuel is used up not because there is a hole in the gas tank, but because the engine is running. Naturally, the rate at which fuel is used up depends on the RPM/speed at which the engine is operating. -Will there be a storyline that is interwoven in the entire game or is the focus purely on simulation? The game has quite an impressive storyline. However, this storyline is securely tied to the tradition of free play. The player can choose his/her own path in the game. -Sergei Babayev told me that there will be navigation units in the game. What are they for? Where can they be purchased? Yes, there are navigation units in the game. You can purchase one and install it practically at any service station. The unit will help you find your way to the destination of your task. It's hint will be reflected on the windshield. -Will there be missions that have to do with airports, train stations, ports? Will there be a multiplayer? In the future, do you have plans to make a realistic game set in Moscow or Russia? Shipping ports can even be seen in some of the screenshots. Therefore, most of what you listed is present in the game. As stated before, the next game in the series is open for ideas and concepts. -I've recently watched a gameplay trailer for the game and noticed that the character's hands were not visible on the steering wheel. Why is that? Or can that feature be turned off? There are three camera modes available within the cab: from the driver's seat, from the passenger's seat, and from the sleeper. In addition, you can regulate the view by using the mouse. It is possible to zoom in and out as well. From all camera modes except "driver's seat" you can observe not only the hands, but Nick's entire character and see him shifting gears. -I remember you saying in detail that not only will trucks have different sounds, but the sound would be different depending on damage and whether the truck is going up a hill. In the latest trailers I have not noticed this. Was this done on purpose? Or was what you said false? When a truck is driving down a straight and smooth road at the same speed the engine's RPM does not change. Naturally, the engine sound does not change either. -It was said that vehicles will experience wear. Will the wear depend on the length of time the vehicle is in use? Also, in other trucking games when you drive at night you can see everything on the sides of the truck as if it is evening at 2AM. Will this be the case in Rig'n'Roll or will it be true night? First of all, the wear depends on the mileage on the vehicle and how it is driven. For example, if you ride the brakes while going down a hill the brake pads will wear more quickly than under normal use. -Please rate the behavior model of the vehicles in Rig'n'Roll on a scale of 0 to 100 where 100 represents real world physics. It's always hard to do a rating like this. The press is used to this, but not developers. We can say in words that the behavior of trucks is realistic to the point that is necessary for the game process... we tried not to ruin the fun with unnecessary complexities of which there are plenty in the real life of a trucker, but at the same time not strip the game to a primitive «gas, brake, reverse and all this using two buttons». In addition, I will say that someone without experience will not be able to control a real life loaded big rig. -Judging by scenes from some of the videos, vehicles tend to stick to each other when a collision occurs. Has this "bug" been fixed? I don't know which scenes you are referring to, but on the last stages of testing in which three independent groups of game testers played the game, a large quantity of problems related to the physics of collision were discovered and eliminated. 1) The gauges work, but do they accurately reflect what is happening in the engine? 2) How will loading of the trailers work? Will pre-loaded trailers be parked in a lot from which the player picks them up or will we have to hook up an empty trailer and go load it? 3) Will the driver become fatigued and require sleep/rest? 4) When you are delivering a load will it be like in Hard Truck 2 where you have to beat your competitors to the destination or can you just drive calmly at you own pace? 5)Will the player be able to choose his character or will there just be one standard? 1) The gauges that do work accurately reflect what is happening in the engine within the limits of the physical model (including many untraditional gauges such as the pressure in the main and auxiliary brake lines, temperature of the gearbox, and so on). 2) The trailers in the game are always ready to be transported. All the player needs to do is hook them up and set out to the destination. The hooking up takes place either in a warehouse/base or at some other location depending on the mission. 3)No, sleep is realized not as a requirement, but as a possibility to advance time and wait until the weather becomes more favorable. 4)Loads will be divided into two types: regular and competition. In the first case, you will simply have to make it to the destination in the alloted time. In the latter, you will have to compete with rivals. 5)There is one character assigned to the player- Nick Perepelov. Russian trucker who comes to America to organize his own trucking business. -Will there be random occurrences on roads including traffic jams and accidents? Will it be possible to get a flat tire? Do the parts of the truck experience wear? In California, traffic jams are an unavoidable evil. Unfortunately, as everywhere else, accidents are also not a rarity. Systems of wear and break downs are very detailed so that on high difficulty settings you will have to make frequent trips to the service station to diagnose the status of the truck and repair.
