Attacking aerial units
I can never seem to attack the goblin zeppelins with my eagle units, though the description of the eagle units makes me think that I should be able to do this. Is this not possible, or am I doing something wrong? i can only seem to kill them using archers or magic missiles.

You can attack them with tamed eagles and war eagles, but not with eagle riders(bombers).
The only way a bomber unit can attack with melee is if it ambushes something(enemy runs into it without knowing it was there). Incidentally, crossbowmen with slayer perk(or elvish archers for alliance) are best for taking them down.

hmm...well, i was trying to attack with tamed eagles. i could never seem to go to the same hex as the one with the zeppelins. perhaps i'm just mis-clicking?

You need to carefully select the zeppelin if there's a ground unit below it.
