Direct3D "undetermined error"
The demo crashes immediately after the splash screen, popping a dialog that reads "C:\work\skyfallen\tbm\BMRender\rmode.cpp(5509 ): DirectX call failed: -1, -1, E_FAIL (An undetermined error occurred inside the Direct3D subsystem"
I have attached a DxDiag.txt output. Is there anything I can do to run this? |

Updated driver twice, no dice
Since posting, I've updated my nVidia drivers, first to 196.21, then to the 196.34 beta. Neither version had any effect. Your demo still crashes in the same way.

I`ve seen this behaviour before with other games, usually following a Windows update that messes about with a driver and DirectX. If this is the same problem, you`re half-way to solving it, but after updating your drivers, you may find that reinstalling DirectX cures the problem.

Lame solution = roll back drivers
As others have posted elsewhere, rolling the nVidia drivers back to 191.07 provides a temporary workaround. It isn't a real solution, though, since doing that breaks other new games I have (BioShock 2, for example).
Can anyone at 1C offer any hope for a real solution to this problem? |

same problem
I'm getting the same error [except the numbers after .cpp are(1633)] and i BOUGHT the game. I updated my drivers and directx and still get the same error.
I'm running windows Vista 32 bit, I7 920 proccesor, Radeon 4850 1G video card. Would really be nice to hear from a developer or mod on this subject, paying $30 for a game that i can't play is not a good way to keep customers or earn new ones. Edit: found solution Go into the "data" folder in the "kings bounty armored princess" folder and open the game config file named "game". The first 2 lines set screen res, the x and y had a value of 0. Changed those to my screen res (x 1920 y 1080) and saved the file. The game starts fine after this fix. thanks to idontlikesteam for posting this info in another thread about this problem. Last edited by sbonham; 03-06-2010 at 01:36 AM. |
