Default Widescreen help!!

Ive recently purchased a 23.5 inch LG LED monitor and ive been trying to figure out how to get a 1980x1020 resolution for IL-2? Ive fiddled around with the config. file but when i try to start the game it wont load with this resolution but i reduced it to 1680x1050 and it load with no hassles.

Is there a way i can get Il-2 to run at 1980x1020?

you need only to change 3 lines in your conf.ini
[window]
width=1980
height=1020
SaveAspect=0

IL2 1946 usually runs at the same resolution as your desktop with no problem.

G'day mate,

I have found that I could run the game at 1680 x 1050 but when guys that I was flying with were calling bogeys out I could not see them at a far distance. then one of my squad mates said that he runs the game at 1280 x 768.

Since changing back to this I have noticed that I can see further our and pick up things moving along the ground a lot easier.

For movie making I do actually have two different game folders and run the screen capturing stuff through the version that is set to 1680 x 1050.

Here is the settings I use that my mate gave me, hope it helps:

width=1280
height=768
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=1
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

Maybe you should try 1920 x 1080 instead 1980 x 1020
